I have just been upgraded from W2000 to W2003. I have a Letter template in Word that uses AutoText fields to pull in the data as listed in the User Information fields (Tools menu, Options, User Information fields). This saves time for my colleagues using this template so they do not have to type in repetative text it autopopulates their name and address on opening. This worked fine in W2000. Now in W2003 it has stopped working. If I right click on the field and select Update field it will show the correct information OR Select All and F9 inputs correct data. This cannot be right that I have to force it to update rather than the automatic update it used to do on opening. Are there new settings or behaviours in W2003 I need to tweak to get those fields to autoupdate to show the correct users information? Any ideas would be gratefully received!!!

I have a document that I would like to make the page numbering work as follows First 'x' pages have no numbering, second 'y' pages are number i, ii, iii, iv, etc..., and that last 'z' pages are 1,2,3,4... I am using W2003 but found this option on General tab in my version. It was already ticked. Any other thoughts gratefully received.

2.Date field code will not auto update
Have a form letter template with most text protected except for certain fields. Also has Date field code at top so when form letter is completed and printed, it has current date at top automatically. This works fine in Word 2003 and Word 2000, but Date field does not auto-update in Word 2002 (XP). All versions running within company. Ideas?
3.auto-updating an auto text field code value
I have a text box as a lettehead. Its included in 300 letters. However in the future I'm going to need to change the letterhead. Rather than going through changing the letterhead in all instances is there a way to get the letters to update automatically when I change the letterhead? My plan was to have the letterhead as an autotext entry and then put this auto-text entry in a field code. However the letter doesn't seem to update when I change the letterhead and name it as the same auto-text entry. Any advice greatly appreciated. Glenn.
4.Field updates on print even though Update Fields not checked
Hello we've got a doc with the date originally inserted and doc saved in the past (just date, not createdate field). Even though Tools|Options|Print|Update Fields is not checked, it updates the field when we print. Please advise, user indicates it never used to do this and we can't use createdate for other reasons. Please advise--thanks much in advance.
5.Why not all fields in document are updating?
I actively used different fields (Pages, Numpages, Docproperty, Includetext, references an so on). For updating the whole document I used Ctrl+A and then F9 and everything was OK. I have created a set of templates and when I'm updating the fields in this templates (using Ctrl+A and F9), some fields didn't apdate (f.e. field Numpages). When I'm updating the only this fields everything is good. What is the reason?
