My xp proffessional edition somehow wasnt installed properly and every time I tried to write a word document my computer tried to install it, realised it couldnt and went back to normal word. I thought I could just delete the proffessional part, but it deleted the whole thing and now all I have is wordpad. I dont have the disk anymore either. I tried the online help, but i cant get it for free because it was a Select licence agreement/software assurance home use programme. Obviously I dont understand any of this, let alone how to fix it.
  • 2. My keyboard is still typing backwards
Hi, I have my computer set up for English, Portuguese, Greek and Hebrew. I was typing in Word, and fumbled the keys, and suddenly I was in Hebrew. That usually isn't a problem. I entered the keystrokes to go back to English, and the characters were English but entered backwards. The paragraph setting is for left to right, so that isn't the problem. I tried uninstalling the Hebrew from my system, and that did not resolve the problem. I tried rebooting; that didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled Word. It still types backwards. Suggestions? Thanks Mark
  • 3. Displaying CAPS LOCK ON in Word 2000 in Windows XP
When I hit CAPS LOCK when I'm typing, can Word display the CAPS ON symbol on the screen? I have a keybaord that doesn't show a light to indicate this and it is rather frustrating to type whole paragraphs without realizing I've left the Caps lock on! -- Many thanks JD
  • 4. I would like to use msword as a txt so when I paste something woul
I would like to us msword as a txt so when I paste something from the internet let's say I won't have to change it to TXT for a font of txt type. i.e. if something is paste from the ie into ms word form the internet explorer the fonts are pasted as in the browser and then usually the person is able to change it. Now if you paste the same thing into the notepad would be as default with no fonts setup. So my question is how do I set the MSword to be use in this way as just a simple editor but having all the resources of macros and others tools available???
  • 5. saving docs -same title for everyfile?
Everytime i try to save a doc in Word, the same author name and same title of the doc are the used. this occurs for every file being saved in Word. This is a problem because the name is not me. i think maybe because the first word doc that i opened was from the person whose name is appearing as the author. I go in under properties and change each file after saving it originally but then if i edit the file at a later time and click save, the author and title of the doc revert back to the original wrong ones. I have tried to fix this by going under - tools, options, and setting the user info with my information but it didnt work. any help/advice would be much appreciated. thanks.

I am having an annoying problem (upon file open or save /view ... I CAN'T GET
TO SEE the precious "date modified" under VIEW DETAILS, even if I select it
each time -- I only get the NAME Column under VISTA and Office 2003)

Is this a known problem under VISTA and office2003 ??

system: VISTA Business SP1, Office 2003 SP3

Thanks... It worked. !
Actually I do recall it was Okay earlier -- and when it was lost I had
thought it is possibly related to some ServPack or security update.
I'll see if it stays on recalling the detailed column selections across
drives and from different office modules.

Thanks again. Your reply has been helpful

I have the same problem on a Vista laptop and Word 2003. I can get the
details view that I want, go into properties view and say apply to all
folders and sub folders. Open next folder and details remain. If I click on
My Computer I see the drives without the extended details. I then click on
the original drive and the folders have lost their details, even go down the
original folder path as before, all I have is the 'Name' column.

My steps:
In my z:\Projects folder
right-click blank column heading, select Size as column heading
'Size' appears as column heading
right-click blank column heading, select Date Modified as column heading
'Date Modified' appears as column heading
right-click blank column space, select Properties, then Customize, then
checkbox Also apply this template to all subfolders. Select OK
goto z:\Projects\Temp
I have 'Name', 'Size', 'Date Modified' column headings.
go back to Z:\Projects folder, headings are still there.
Goto 'My Computer', 'Name' is the only heading
goto Z:\Projects and 'Name' is again the only heading
Goto z:\Projects\Temp and 'Name' is again the only heading.

Vista 32bit, Office 2003 SP3

Frustrated,

Steve

2.file open/views/details set details as default

When I OPEN a file, I would like my VIEWS to always be set as DETAILS. How
can I set this to be the permanent and forever default, ...so that for every
time, for all files and all folders the VIEW is always set to be DETAILS?
  Thanks!

3.File Open / View / Details Set as Default

When I OPEN a file, I would like my VIEWS to always be set as DETAILS. How
can I set this to be the default view?

I have gone to Windows Explorer Tools | Folder Options and set the folders
to be like the one shown (details) but when I go back into Word 2007 the old
yucky view is still there. Also, I need the the title of the document column
to be wider, which I can do by dragging it, but I want to set it wider as a
default, and it switches back to the yucky view as soon as I close the open
dialogue box.

This was posted previously but wasn't answered. Anybody???
