  • 1. word para marks
I extracted text from a ppt doc with VBA to a txt doc and then pasted it into Word to edit. Many of the para marks though are not real para marks, so Word doesn't recognize them as end of paras (and I can;lt edit properly). I can't figure out what they are to replace them - I have tried all the likely candidates under Find, More, Special - they are not e.g. para characters or manual line breaks. With hidden formatting characters shown, they LOOK like paragraph marks. Help appreciated.

In a particular document, spell check does not find any mispelled words, even one's I create. I've gotten an error msg to the effect that spell check "skipped" text marked as not to be checked. I have not knowingly marked any text.

  • 4. Find and Replace - found selection positioning
After finding stuff, it is selected highlighted, prompting for my action. But it's always positioned on top of the page... I can't see the lines before it, unless I focus back on the document window and scroll back a few... which is annoyingly bothersome after 20 times. Is there a way for us to control where the highlighted selection to be positioned in relative to the page? In the center of the page (vertically center), for example? Thanks for any pointers!
  • 5. Themes don't work in converted Word doc; PLEASE HELP
I've converted a "compatiblility mode" document to .docx to gain formatting options, but the themes won't work. They're not greyed out, they just have no effect. They work well on new .docx documents. I've read conflicting reports on this. MS says convert to gain all the new formatting tools. MS also says that themes are permanently converted to styles in a converted document. Whattt??? A converted document is "stuck" with the ghost of Word 2003 forever??? That can't be right?!!!! Can anyone out there test this this or am I the only lucky guy with this problem? Thanks!!

Unable to install Equation Editor

Postby Z2FyeQ » Tue, 03 May 2005 08:05:06 GMT

I've followed the instructions below to install Equation Editor, but when I
open Word, and Insert Object, the Equation Editor still is not a choice.

Equation Editor is included on your Office 2003 CD, but it is not
installed by default. You can add the feature to your installation by
inserting the CD and clicking on Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs | Microsoft Office 2003 | Change | Add/Remove Features. You'll
find Equation Editor in the "Office Tools" category.

I'm running XP and Office Professional (don't know if it makes a difference,
but I bought a Student License version from my school)

Any suggestions? I never even get prompted to insert the Office CD. I
tried running Setup.exe directly from the installation CD, but no change.
After I follow the instructions above, it says that it has updated
successfully.

Thanks for any help!

If the install files were copied to your HD, you might not need to insert
the CD. If you have set Equation Editor to "Run from my computer," it should
be installed.

ok-- I did a search, and Equation Editor is installed on my harddrive. I
have a follow-up question regarding how to incorporate this program when I
write Word documents. I've never used it before; and it looks like I can
open Equation Editor separately, write up my equations and then insert it
into a Word document.

But, from the way my professor explained it to me in class, I should be able
to open Word, and go to Insert Object and find Equation Editor under Create
New. From here, I can use Equation Editor to directly write my equations
into my Word doc instead of having to go back and forth between 2 different
programs.

So, Equation Editor is installed on my HD, but still doesn't appear in
Word>Insert>Object>Create New. Any suggestions? or is this how it's
supposed to be?

Thanks!

Try this: Open Tools | Customize, select the Commands tab, and find Equation
Editor in the list of Commands for Insert category. Drag it to your Standard
toolbar. What happens when you click on this button?

1.Unable to install equation editor

I have tried to install the equation editor but every time I do the
install process errors out about half way through. I go through the
process by going into add/remove programs and change the installation
to include the equation editor. After I hit the update button, it
starts to install the equation editor, but than at about 50% it will
come up with an error saying that it is unavailable. I also had the
Office CD in the drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

2.equation editor 3 does not open equation created by editor 2

3.Equation Editor doesn't appear when installed

Word 2003
Windows XP SP2

There have been several posts on this subject. Here is one more
solution.

I installed Equation Editor via Add/Remove Programs in the Control
Panel. Nevertheless, in Word it did not appear in
Insert>Object>Create New tab. It also did not appear in the list of
toolbars in Tools>Customize>Toolbars tab.

The only way I could make Equation Editor come into being in Word was
to go to Tools>Customize>Commands tab>Categories list - select
"Insert" > Commands list - scroll down till you reach Equation
Editor. Drag the icon to the Menu of your choice. Press "Close".
Choose Equation Editor from the Menu you just dragged it to. An
equation field and the equation toolbar will appear, and you can take
it from there.

Hope this helps.
