  • 1. AutoText Entry not working.
    I have MS Word 2003. I want to create an autotext entry for (U) with the name unclassified. When the user starts typing the word unclassified I want it to return with (U) So when the user starts typing unclas... I should get a autocomplete tip that appears and when I press enter I will get (U) I've tried to make an auto text entry for this but it is not working. I highlighted (U) and pressed ALT F3. When asked to type the name of my AutoText entry I typed unclassified. When I start typing unclas... nothing happens I don't get the autocompete tip. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

    I need to generate a statement on pledges vs receipts to all who have pledged.
  • 3. difficulty emulating Word template
    I am trying to create a letter template which, like those produced by Word's own wizards, contains tab and content information (i.e. date, recipient's address, salutation, etc.) Word brackets these terms, which are then overtyped with letter-specific info. How do I make one of these, and re-use it? And is this the standard way of making a personalized letter template?

    When I am changing my default signature in Outlook 2003 by using "Insert" my new choice comes in immediately in a yellow color. I want to make the default Black. This is only when I want to change my choice of email signature to another I have set up in Word 2003. Both the font and the color change. I want to set the default color black and the default font that is already m default in my email letter and default signature. How do I do this I have tried everything but coming here?     Now that I have generated Bar X (thanks to Suzanne Barnhill) and formatted it with some care, how do (or can?) I paste it permantly as an entry into a Symbol Font databank (say Maths-PS or WorldMath), either in addition to what is there, or replacing a symbol I don't use? Thanks

My spell check does not work on MS 2003.  I went to the MS site for updates 
and there were 3.  I clicked to download but it said it was unsuccessful but 
it did not say why.

1.Cannot enter my new computer as I don't know the user or password 

I just purchased a new ACER Aspire for my family with VISTA home basic on it 
and due to some problems with the keyboard not working we managed to enter a 
user and password through a remote control device and now do not know what it 
is.  We cannot enter the system at all so all references to a password reset 
disc do not apply.  Also we do not have the VISTA dvd as the program is on 
the OS.  My kids just want to use the new computer and so far all we can do 
is look at the first screen asking us for a user and password.

2.backspace disabled but i don't know why 

I have somehow enabled a setting on Microsoft word 2002 which disables the use of backspace when you select text.  But I don know how to make it go back.  It quite hared to explain the problem and is easily described by an example:

Say you select a word which you want to delete you have various options of doing so, you can press the delete key (the most obvious), the backspace key or just type which replaces the selected word with whatever you type.  

These last two for some reason do not work in word anymore and it is extraordinarily annoying especially when you for get and there ends up being loads of words you thought you deleted left I your document.

I would love to find out how to fix this problem as it has happened on three of my computers.

3.When I open a word, it pops up and don't know why 

When I open a word file, a window pops up saying "The command cannot be 
performed because a dialog box is open. Click OK, and then cloase dialog 
boxes to continue" I don't know why. 
Can you help me?

What worked six months ago seems to give a runtime error now.
Revisting a VBA routine as the project has come out of moth balls.

error 13 - type mismatch on the line:

In the snippet of the whole routine,

I retraced my steps revisted posts from April and use of bookmarks on the 
FAQ word site and I can't see what could cause this glitch.
Corrupt VBA or the bookmarks in the original letter?

Any ideas appreciated.
