1.Attach Chapter numbers to Captions with different numbering style
I am using "Heading1" style for the chapters in my Thesis. the "Heading1"
style has been modified to be numbered with "I, II , III...etc".
Now, in the figures in each of the chapters, I can attach the chapter number
to the figure label easily. However, I do not want the figure to be Labeled
"Figure I.1" and "Figure II.1". I want it to be "Figure 1.1" and "Figure 2.1".
This means that I want the chapters numbers to be displayed in the chapter
titles as it is "I , II ,III..etc", but, it should be used in the figure
captions as "1, 2,3..etc".
I tried alot to solve this issue, but, I could not.
Any help is highly appreciated.
2.caption number does not pick up the chapter number
I am working on a separate document (which is, say, a second chapter of a
large one to be created later) using Word 2003 pro.
My Chapter Title style has the number 2 inserted and all subsequent
sections, equations etc. pick up the chapter number correctly. That is, my
sections are automatically numbered 2.1, 2.2 etc., subsections 2.1.1, 2.1.2
or 2.2.1 and 2.2.1, etc. The same with equations: 2.1, 2.2 etc. So far, so
good. That is what I expected.
However, when I try to add captions to existing tables or insert automatic
table numbering, the captions start with 1.1, then 1.2 and so on. The same
happens with figure captions.
How to force change of the leading 1 to 2 (or any other number)? What
should I do when I need to add section number to the caption? Or, how to
format the caption numbering?
Thank you,

3.Chapter numbering question: Introduction as Chapter "0"?
I'm trying to get my husband's thesis ready for submission
(UC-Berkeley in case anyone has personal experience) and I have a
formatting problem. I would like to have an introduction prior to
Chapter 1, with pages numbered i, ii, iii, iv, etc. The introduction
contains figures and tables, which I would like to be numbered 0-a,
0-b or Intro-a, Intro-b, etc.
The main text will start with Chapter 1, and the pages will be
numbered 1,2,3, etc. For my captions, figures and tables will be
numbered 1-a, 1-b, etc.
I tried using the captions feature, but Word won't allow a Chapter
"0." I also need to have the Introduction included in the table of
contents.
I appreciate any advice,

4.Word macro to extract chapter preserving chapter and page numbering
I'd like to be able to easily create a new word document from a
chapter in a multi-chapter document. What would be really groovy would
be to be prompted for a chapter number and let Word find it on its
own, but short of that, what I'd like to do is be able to select a
portion of a document, run the macro and have a new word document
created with the first chapter number being the number of the first
chapter of the selected portion and the first page number being the
number of the first selected page.
5.having a chapter name below the chapter number
Am a novice here and will try to be as clear as possible.
I would like to create a chapter style in word where the chapter name
appears below the chapter number, but in the table of contents they
appear together. In the chapter numbering I'd like to have
Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
but in the TAC I'd like to have
Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION ....1
Can anyone help me?
Cheers, Eugene
