Word 2003 (Doc has to be readable in anything from word 2000 on). I have: 8 gifs. Total size 185k 1 rtf doc without gifs. Total sze: 45k When I insert the gifs into the rtf doc, suddenly the file size blows out to 3.5MB (and that is after doing the "compress" thing). Why? What can I do about this? I have to distribute this doc in a zip file if that is relevant.

I use circles and arrows to denote changes in my word document. I've lowered the acceleration hardware speed (as was suggested). I've downloaded the latest drivers for my graphics (it was an Intel -- as was suggested). But when I copy a circle or oval, I don't see it immediately in my print layout view. I have to go to print preview to view it and when I return to the print layout view, it's there. This is just too cumbersome to do all the time. Also, when I try to copy just one circle, it picks up an adjacent one even though I've select only one graphic. -- Julie L

Trying to rotate photographics from disc onto Word document. When I go to Draw then Rotate or Flip, it is grayed out. If I try Format Object then Size, the rotate is again grayed out. Why can't I use the rotation device?

Turn off "auto fit" in Smart Art Graphics

Postby RXJpYw » Tue, 09 Sep 2008 10:10:01 GMT

I am creating a flow chart that does not fit the "automatic" Smart Art
layouts. I am able to change shapes, but the "Auto Fit" is driving me nuts.
I've tried to turn it off in text boxes by selecting shapes, selecting text,
selecting the who smart art graphics, and the "auto fit" is greyed out and
set in "on" position.

How can I turn it off for Smart Art?

Thanks

Eric

Hi Eric,

Which SmartArt Layout are you using?

When you are in a Word 2007 SmartArt the default in Word when you right click and choose Format=>Object or Format=>Shape (depending
on what is selected under your cursor) and then select the TextBox data, the default is generally for the Textbox Autofit (content
of a single text box) to be off
   (o) Do not Autofit
in Word in a SmartArt diagram, but it can be on in Powerpoint.

In SmartArt Tools=>Format=>Shapes the Larger/Smaller choices should be working.

Bob, thanks for the prompt answer.

I'm using a "Process" diagram...the one with the circles. The "Turn on
Autofit" option radial button is marked "on," but the entire option is greyed
out. I know I can reach it through Format Object>Text Box> but it's always
greyed out. I've tried getting to it wit the shape selected, the text
selected, a cursor in the text box with no text selected, and just have had
no luck at all.

Thanks

Eric

Hi Eric,

In Insert=>SmartArt if you hover over the particular layout you're using what is the name of the layout? There are about 28 default
SmartArt layouts in the Process category and at least 6 have circles in them <g>

Okay, I'm going for coffee now :) Where are you seing a 'Turn on Autofit' radial button in a SmartArt canvas?
The ones in Format Shape in the textbox section are usually

  (o) Do not Autofit
( ) Shrink text on overflow
( ) Resize shape to fit text.

You can adjust shape sizes from the SmartArt Tools, but the SmartArt Tool is going to try to be 'helpful' by keeping everything
scaled to all fit in the SmartArt Canvas size you've chosen.

If you need more manual control you may want to work with
  Insert=>Shape=>New Drawing Canvas
The SmartArt Graphics are targeted more as themeable presentation displays than they are for drawing tools.

How does turning off "auto download html graphics" lessen the risk of

3.[OT] Turn vertex points on/off, so fragment points turn on/off

4.Turn vertex points on/off, so fragment points turn on/off

Hello,

I am newb to gpgpu programming so I wonder if the following is possible and
what technique for it could be used to achieve it
(I saw someone else mention GL_POINTS so I will go on that):

The idea is as follows:

There is an array of verteces for example 1000 verteces.
Each vertex translates to a "pixel" / fragment.
So there should be 1000 pixels as well.

The vertex shader will be called first and each vertex must decide if it's
to be on or off based on some condition.

Each vertex that is on should trigger a fragment/pixel shader.

Therefore only the pixel/fragment associated with the vertex should execute
the pixel/fragment shader to make it as efficient/fast as possible.

So that's idea and I have a couple of questions about that:

1. Is this possible somehow ?

2. What techniques exist ?

3. Which technique would be fastest ?

I would prefer to use OpenGL + CG on DirectX9 cards like NVIDIA GTX 7900.

DirectX solutions would be interesting too.

(I posted this question on gpgpu forum as well (except above two lines), so
I am shotgunning multiple resources for some possible answers ;) :))

Thanks for any help ! God bless you !

Bye,
  Skybuck.
