  • 1. Disappearing footnotes in frames
I'm having a problem with footnotes in frames. The note mark appears in the frame, but the footnote does not appear on the bottom of the page. More disquietingly, subsequent footnotes in the the remainder of the text (including those *not* in the frame) also vanish (though the note marks appear in the body, and the footnotes reappear when I remove the footnote from the frame). Has anyone experience similar problems? Any solutions? I've had this problem both with Word 2002 on WinXP home and with Word 2000 on Win98SE. Thanks, Bruce Rusk
  • 2. Jumping graphics I want stick graphics to page and stay put
I am making a simple (to I thought) page layout with word 2000, with a clip art graphic at the top of each page. I want the graphic to stay put. To stick to its position on the page, whatever happens. I want it to ignore the text. But the damm things just jump around all the time. I could have sworn that in the past I have removed the anchor to text check and set the layout to "page," and that then the image would stay put. But my titles jump to being one on top of the other (on the first page say) when I change anything. Is there no way of making an object stay where is put? I am going to try putting the title graphics in the header. This is non ideal since I may have the same problem in the future with a graphic that I want to stay put in the middle of the page. It is driving me crazy. I think that I need to buy some (expensive) layout software. Pagemaker? • 3. Watermark option not available
I don't have the Printed Watermark option available in the background command. Anybody know why?
  • 4. Can I draw a graph with a value range for each entry?
I want to create a bar / column graph using Microsoft Graph where each data entry consists of a range of values (i.e. has a lower and upper value). For example: I have 3 different products. The price of each product will vary (have a lower and upper price - a range). Let's say Product one's price ranges from $75 - $100, Product two's price ranges from $65 - $120, and Product three from $60 - $115. I want to show graphically the three product prices as three blocks/bars next to each other (for comparison). Hope you understand what I'm asking here. Please help as I'm very frustrated!
  • 5. Best Graphics Format
Does anyone have any suggestions on the best format to use for inserting a graphic into Word? One that doesn't use a lot of space and still maintains clear quality resolution? I do use the Paste Special command and select the Picture option, which has good resolution, but doesn't use a lot of space. However, I would still like to know what other methods are out there. Thanks!

images don't show up in microsoft office 2003?

Has anyone figured out a way to have images show up in Word 2003 since the
July 2004 postings?? In my document I don't have "Picture Placeholders"
checked but I still don't have the images showing up consistently. When I
have an image viewable scrolling up or down past the image will cause that
portion of the image to vanish. Resizing the document is the only way for the
image to reappear.

This is probably a problem with your system's display drivers not refreshing
the screen properly and may have nothing to do with Word as such.

Cheers

I do have the same problem with word2003 after updating xp sp2 (and this is
a common problem). I think it is sad, that Microsoft has done nothing to
correct this (only happens in word 2003) or to inform its customers of this
serious problem and its remedy. At least they could react to this problem
and say "update your drivers to make our update work..."

wcs8,
You can only solve this at the moment by altering the HArdware Acceleration
in Display Properties, until Direct X is no longer running, this will allow
pictures to be displayed ok. Will need to alter back again though if you
want to play games etc.
