  • 1. Letterhead in Jpg format - template
We just had a designer provide us a jpg format design as our letterhead. However, I'm having a difficult time incorporating this jpg as a template. I'm inserting the jpg as a watermark picture but the problems I encounter are: 1. Margins force the jpg within the page margin boundaries. 2. Picture, although stretched out on the page, does not print out covering entire page. 3. the jpg is 1mb in size and when I load the template Word begins to drag and it's almost impossible to work using that Template. Any tips would be appreciated.

When inserting a jpeg into a word document, is there a way to automatically save and apply settings for crop, height and width for the jpeg to be inserted? When I insert a jpeg I have to automatically adjust for these settings everytime. Thanks

Thanks, CyberTaz! It makes sense to me even though I don't think we'll be able to adjust the printer's settings. So, we'll need to approach the issue differently.
  • 4. Pasting from Excel to Word
We have some Excel charts with thousands of data points that we want to paste into Word. In order to reduce the file size, we have been using "Paste Special" and "bitmap" or "device independent bitmap" as the option. That would put a high-resolution bitmap into the Word file that would be much smaller in size than pasting as Windows MetaFile or something similar. And, it would still print nicely on laser printers. Lately, the "bitmap" option isn't really pasting a bitmap. It's pasting a WMF file (or something similar) that has all the data points and is very large in size. The high-resolution bitmap option seems to have disappeared. Any ideas on what might have changed? We've tried several different machines (all running Windows XP with Office 2003) and they're all exhibiting the changed behavior. If we try pasting the charts into PowerPoint, then copying them, and using the "Paste Special/bitmap" option into Word, we get a low-resolution (72- or 96-dpi) bitmap instead of the high-resolution bitmap previously available.

What is the best way of inserting an autocad drawing into a word doc

Check out the file formats that Autocad can export your drawing into and
compare this with the list of image file formats that Word can accept, i.e.
JPG, WMF, EMF etc.
Without knowing exactly the complexity of your drawing, the
quality/resolution will vary depending ont he export.
Remember that Word page setup is dictated by your default printer and also
has a built in page size limit (something about 22") that may also hamper
your exercise.
Trial and error will probably be the way.
All the best

2.WMF CAD line drawings into Word

I have about 34 11X17 CAD line drawings to print as part of a manual. The CAD
operator saved them as WMF for me, and I have inserted them with
Insert/Picture/From File. They are printed on 11X17 paper, but re-sized just
small enough to fit in between the header and footer. The problem is that the
drawings are extremely light and I do not know if the manual's reviewers will
accept this. There are a few lines that look just right, the the CAD operator
cannot tell the difference, in the CAD program, between the light ones and
the dark ones. In the past, I when have had to use parts of CAD line drawings
that came in too light, I usually just re-drew them in another graphics
program until I got acceptable copy. This is too large a job to do that.

I would appreciate any insight from anyone more familiar with this process.
Am I going about it the wrong way?

Thanks
