Hi, I have a document that was begun in Word 2003. Opening it in Word 2007, I converted it, so now it says "Microsoft Word non-commercial use" at the top, instead of "compatibility mode." Now I am able to access the additional picture effects on the Format ribbon, but only for some of the pictures. With others, the Format ribbon only shows the old options, and doesn't show me the new ribbon. Thanks, Karen using Windows XP

Thanks for your suggestion, it's a good one but didn't fix
this challenge.

I've turned on Tools - Options - View - Formatting Marks -
All, looked for field codes, looked for layers I could
send to back -- none of these worked.

Then I tried using Edit - Find to find the number. Find
stops at a place where I can't see anything -- but I hit
delete there, ran Find again and it did not stop there
again. Thought I had it solved -- number was gone when I
printed Current Page to check.

But when I print the whole document it still shows up,
only now it's a 20 instead of a 12!! Maybe number change
is a meaningful clue. Any other ideas?

Thanks again.

Did you View | Header and Footer and turn on Tools | Options | View: Text
boundaries?

1.Text shows up in Word file on-screen but is invisible when printed

When I create a Word file and try to print it, the type doesn't show
up, except for the horizontal lines I created by hitting three
consecutive hyphens to create a section break. Same with a PDF I
create out of the Word doc. And regardless of the printer. Word files
created by other people print just fine, so some setting is messed up
in my version of Word, I assume. Other things, like webpages, print
just fine. This happened after a weird glitch when a file somehow
took on the filename of another file I had just opened, as if I'd done
a Save As -- but I didn't. Should I just reinstall Word? Or uninstall
(how do I do that) and reinstall?
