New text box contains text from an existing textbox

Postby SmFjaw » Mon, 28 Dec 2009 15:05:01 GMT

When inserting a text box, text in an existing box appears in the new text
box (Text boxes have been copied/pasted in the document).
How can I get rid of this problem?

This is a sign of document corruption. For more on document and template
corruption, see http://www.**--****.com/

2.new text boxes added other text boxes 'blink' can't select new

MS Word 2007, XP
Making a work instruction procedure.
Inserted, cropped, and aligned pictures.
Now adding text boxes:
Inserted first Text Box, formatted, and aligned.
When additional (and subsequent) text boxes are inserted, the first or
previous text block starts 'blinking'. Both the new text box and the
previous show as being selected (i.e. blue outline around the both boxes are
active). But the previous text box outline is 'blinking'. Under Text Box
Tools Format tab, Size selection boxes are blinking as well as Create Link
under Text (Break Link can not be selected). I can scroll down to the next
box, but when I stop scrolling, it 'jumps back' to the blinking box.
Clicking in the document 'turns off' both the blinking box and the new box.
Then when I try to select the new box, it starts all over again and 'jumps
back' to the previous blinking box. Driving me crazy!!

3.When I create a new text box, it has info from previous textboxes

I'm working with a large Word document. (Ads for High School Football Program)
I create a shape outline for the frame (usually autoshapes). Ad a clip art
(or scanned image), I use WordArt for emphasis, and occasionally I draw a
text box for smaller detailed information. I layer the items as needed, then
group each ad before going on to the next ad.

When the file gets really huge, I start having a problem ONLY with the TEXT
BOXES... the information from a new text box will be displayed with the
information OR instead of the original information that was in a previous
text box. Sometimes when I try to draw a new text box, information from a
previous ad will already be in the new text box.

If I change or delete the information in one place, it changes/deletes the
information in both places. I don't know where the original text goes.

Any suggestions?

4.Macro won't copy textbox data and paste into new text box

I have 11 documents, they should be templates but they are not. They all have
a section that contains the same information for all of them. At first I
wanted to do IncludeText but this option doesn't work as the documents get
renamed by the user. So I figured I create text boxes for the fileds in the
section mentioned. Now I'm trying to do a macro to copy the entries from the
first document and paste it into the corresponding 10 other documents,
however I get nothing aside from the screen flashing between the documents???

5.Text contained in a text box shows on screen but doesn't print

Suddenly, any text contained within text boxes doesn't print out although it
shows up on the screen.

Any ideas?

Not sure if it's a problem within Word or the printer settings.
