  • 1. Can OpenDataSource use *SQLStatement when the DataSource is a CSV?
I am trying to figure out how to use a *SQLStatement on a CSV file. I want to do something like this: SELECT * FROM T:\PRT\ELGEXC14.CSV WHERE EGEXCODE="14" What would my OpenDataSource look like?
  • 2. wrong record in mail merge
This is probably an easy problem, but I'm attempting to mail merge a single record from an access database, and the record that is merged is always different from the record i choose in the 'merge records from x to x' fields. Any ideas what could cause this? Does word re-sort the database when you create the data source?
  • 3. Dropping trailing zeros in word 2000 mail merge
I have a client doing a mail merge in Word 2000 using an Excel 2000 spreadsheet as her source. This is a mail merge letter and two of the fields she is pulling are a dollar amount and a date field. She had the dollar amount formatted as a number with 2 digits after the decimal. She has the date field formatted as date using the month spelled out as in November 18, 2003. When she does the merge, the trailing zeros on the dollar amount are cut off and it converts the date to 11/18/03. I tried changing the formatting in the excel doc to currency for the dollar amount but the same thing happened. I can only find reference on Microsoft's site to this happening with Access as the data source so the help won't help me here. Anyone have any ideas? • 5. Creating an Index from a merged field
I wanted to know if it's possible to create an index for a merged field from access. I'm creating a directory and need one field to be indexed in word. Is this even possible? Any help would be great. Thanks. Krista

OK, the first row needs to have the column headings. I would provide
headings even for the columns that are empty, e.g.

Lastname Empty1 Firstname Street Empty2 City Empty3 State Zip

then follow Graham's articles.

hanks Peter for the help I tried it thru Micro, Publisher and after I
picked, which data base to use, I opened my same excel file. And when it came
up to editing my original list I expanded the box and spread the coloum open
that contained the zip code and presto that was it , it allowed all items to
show and print again thanks for the help. I will set one up the way you said
and give it a try. A name for each coloum.
