Can anyone tell me if there is a way (and how to do it) to create a spread sheet in Excel and then have the information in the cells merged / imported into a Word template at different places? In other words, 'cell A1' in the spread sheet would go to one place in the Word template while 'cell B1' would go to another place in the same template. (Or, maybe there is a way to create a table in Word to do the same thing.) Thanks, gman

I installed office xp on my new computer with vista home premium as os.
everything works fine but.... in a new document I chooose tools, mail merge
wizard it gives 4 options not 5 and the 5th is email. windows mail is working
(no outlook in vista) in excel it sends fine. I can merge my document with my
excel spreadsheet data but can not email it. I am sure it is a vista versus
xp problem but can not get any help. On the tool bar for mail merge there is
an email option but it doesn't do anything. on my lap top xp is the os and
the same office xp had email. HELP

I cannot test this particular combination but with Word 2007, Vista and
Windows Mail, as long as I have Windows Mail set up as my default e-mail
program (e.g. Windows button, Default programs) then Word correctly sends
via Windows Mail, unless you try to send using HTML format , which never
worked with Outlook Express and clearly has not changed with Windows Mail.
You do get per-message security pop-ups though.

1.Installing Office XP (2002 version) on Windows Vista Home Prem

Thanks DL - Unfortunately my verson of Vista doesn't have a trial version of
Office on it. I did have a version of Office 97 that I had installed, and
following from your advice I have uninstalled that - did a complete
UNINSTALL. However the Office XP setup still doesn't seem to do anything -
just sits on the Progress Screen without bringing up anything in the "Current
Action:" field and with Progress staying at 0%.

Do you have any other ideas?

2.Installing Office XP (2002 version) on Windows Vista Home Premium

My new computer came pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. I have a
bought version of Office XP Professional (2002 version) that has never been
used. I have been unable to load it onto Vista - is it compatible??

When I run Setup, it goes through the usual stuff - enter product ID, do you
want to remove previous versions of Office (I say remove all), how do you
want to install (I choose COMPLETE), do you accept conditions (I select YES).

The Installation Wizard then puts up the Progress screen - the one with "Now
Installing Office" as the title, an Installation Progress bar and a "Current
Action:" field.

But it just stays there - nothing ever appears in the current action field
and the installation progress bar never starts.

Task Manager shows that it is Running, And there are three occurrences of
MSIEXEC.EXE (Windows installer) showing in the Task Manager Processes, but
they never get any CPU usage, staying permanently on 00. If I stop these
three processes and go through the whole procedure again, I will again get 3
occurrences of the installer running.

So, no error messages, just no action !!!

When I start the SETUP program I am using "Run as Administrator" in Vista.

Does anyone have any idea how to Install Office XP (2002) on Vista ????

Thanks
