I have a problem with an apostrophe in a numbered style that insists on terminating the apostrophe as a quote string. The style includes text that has a apostrophe. "Chef d'accusation n :". The user chooses the style and types "Reason A", Since next style is the same, the user can type "Reason B<CR>Reason C<CR>Reason D" What is expected is: Chef d'accusation 1 : Reason A Chef d'accusation 2 : Reason B Chef d'accusation 3 : Reason C Chef d'accusation 4 : Reason D What I get is: Chef d'accusation 1 : Reason A' Chef d'accusation 2 : Reason B' Chef d'accusation 3 : Reason C' Chef d'accusation 4 : Reason D' (notice the trailing quote) Turning off smart quotes is not an option I have been given. Show track changes but not show editing info

Postby ER » Thu, 18 Dec 2003 03:39:12 GMT

In Word 2000, I want to show my track changes to other
users, but do not want them to see the editing info when
the hover over the change with their mouse. (i.e. author,
when changed and how). I tried to change my options here
so that none were by author but the user info still shows
up. Any way to leave track changes on to show editing with
showing editing info?

Hi Er,

I *think* you can do this by turning off the "AutoComplete"
check box in Tools/AutoCorrect options/AutoText (or
Insert/AutoText/AutoText). Note, however, that this will turn
off tooltips generally, and also that it's installation
profile specific (IOW it won't travel with your document).

If this is a problem, you could perhaps record a macro that
turns it off, named AutoOpen, so that it's turned off when
your document is opened. And another that turns it back on,
named AutoClose, so that it's reactivated.

But macros in documents are always iffy. Most users won't open a document
containing macros; either they'll disable the macros, or (if Security is set
to High) Word will tacitly do it for them.

2.Why don't "Change Case" edits show during "Track Changes"

When I make changes in Word documents with "Track Changes" enabled, they all
show up except when I change the capitalization of a word using the "Change
Case" function. Is my software corrupt? Is this due to a setting I don't know
about ([] Don't show Change Case changes) or is this a feature?

3.Track changes so that view does not show tracking but print does

We use Office 2000 soon to upgrade to 03. I am creating Word
Agreement/contract templates. There are fields with unlimited characters
that must be filed in. In each field I have included an instruction (what
info belongs in field). When the user completes Agreement, it must be
printed with changes redlined for ease of review for attorney (so that
changes/additions to original template can easily be seen) so tracking is
turned on. Now when a field is clicked on to fill in information because of
tracking, the field with instruction is redlined and text filled in is in red
following the actual field. Is there anyway to make the fields work normal
(not redline) even with tracking turned on? It would be more user friendly if
the text typed in the field came out red but the field instructions deleted
like they normally do with tracking off. If not, can the user not see the
tracking but when they print, it shows.

4.track changes: showing WHAT has been changed, but not WHO changed

I have a document with track changes of several different persons. We want to
send it to some people who should see the actual changes but not by WHOM they
were made.
I called our helpdesk and they said it can't be done (we have version 2003)?
Someone else mentioned 'Deltaview'?
Any idea?

5.Word 2003 Track Changes Markups not showing

I have a Word 2003 document that does not show previous changes to the
document. I have enabled all comments, insertions and deletions, etc. and
the document is set for "Final Showing Markup". But, the markups are not
showing on the document.

Now if I view the Reviewing Pane, the changes to the document show up.
Likewise, if I click the buttons to go to the Next (or Previous) change,
that works as well.
