  • 1. page width view scaling
In previous editions of Word, selecting "page width" from the drop-down toolbar magnification selector caused the working area to occupy nearly the full width of the display screen. In 2000 (9.0.3821 SR1), the page width (as indicated by the horizontal ruler above the page) occupies about 60% of the screen width. It correctly indicates the paper size and margins I have set, but previously they were scaled to the screen width. "100%" and "page width" give identical behavior. It is true that I can enter characters in the whole screen, going beyond the page boundaries indicated in the ruler. Hope this is clear. I'm using "normal" view, which I prefer. Is this the designed behavior or an error? Many thanks.
  • 2. Display text onMouseover
I have a 400 page book I created in Word 2002, that has book and page references at the end of the book. What I want to do is have that reference text be displayed in the formal document when the user holds the mouse over the refeerence point. I look at the "add html, and that does show me how to do this, but it won't allow me to cut and past to this "display this text" box, and there are far too many references to have to type these in again. Is there an easier, faster way? George Didit Iowa
  • 3. Wide graphics in two column format in XP
I was having trouble with this in O97, then just got upgraded to OXP, so I'm further back on the learning curve than I need to be.... I will be putting together a long (50 page) document in 2 column format, but will need to insert images at different places that will be wider than the width of a column. Basically, I'll want to be able to place them wherever they need to be on the page, and not have them move when the text moves. Is there a preferred way to accomplish this? when I put them in now and resize them to desired width, anything past the edge of column 1 isn't viewable... this document will be the collaborative effort of multiple people, so the simpler the solution the better. If necessary, I'd be willing to look at automating a good solution with VBA, if it wasn't too complex. It seems that most simple operations limit the size (width) of the inserted pictures, but once I put in a few text boxes I can see the pictures if they overlap, and some pictures now show full size even if they don't overlap a text box? I'm confused about what the critical behavior is that allows these pictures to span columns. Any advice appreciated!
  • 4. Page Numbering in Odd and Even Format
Is it possible to have 2 different sets of page numberin in the footer (1 set for "even" pages; 1 set for "odd" pages). As an example, my left (even) page footer will have a page number of "M1". I want the right (even) page footer to be "1". The next "even" page will be M2; the corresponding "odd" page will be "2". Is there a way to set this up without having to type the page numbers manually? I have the document formatted with odd and even pages. Thank you for you assistance.
  • 5. Tab Help!!!
Okay by Default Microsoft Word this is what it does when I type. (Example) The cat leaped over the frog. The cat leaped over the frog. The cat leaped over the frog. The cat leaped over the frog. The cat leaped over the frog. The cat leaped over the frog. Now why is it when I want a space it won't automatically go into a tab like when I press Enter once?? (Example) The cat leaped over the frog. The cat leaped over the frog. The cat leaped over the frog. The cat leaped over the frog. <--- Notice it's not tabbed? The cat leaped over the frog. Page number displayed as {Page} amd not actual number

Problem with page numbers. The page displays as {page} and not actual
number. If I press Alt+F9 this gives you the page number and not
{page} but when you print it still show {page}. Any suggestions?

On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Print tab. Clear the
"Field codes" option, and then click OK.

2.Printing from VBA, actual page not page number

I am trying to print a range of pages, based on the sequence of the
pages from the beginning of the document and not based on user defined
page numbers.

I have 700+ documents, where the author has set page numbers starting
with Roman numerals for the cover page and TOC (ie i,ii, iii, iv) and
then starting with numeric (1,2,3,4) values for text body. I would
like to print based on the actual page, consistent with the value shown
in the status bar (i.e. "4/11" page 4 of 11, found to the right of the
section identification).

I have tried using the printout method both the From: and To:
designator or the "Pages"=" option. Both times I get page numbers not
actual pages.

Ultimately I am trying to tie the print ranges to bookmarks present in
the document. I am using the following command

intPageNo = Selection.Information(wdActiveEndPageNumber)

to get the page number of the bookmark. This command appears to return
the actual page, not the page number assigned by the user.

I would appreciate any help.
