  • 1. Dynamic Display Pictures
I have the newest beta version of MSN Messenger 7.0 (0732) and there is a feature that catches my eye. Obviously that feature is the dynamic Display Pictures, but when I go to my "Choose Display Picture" window, there is no option for choosing a Dynamic Display Picture or to download one off an MSN Partner site. Can someone explain to me why this is? Has the feature been blocked? Any help would be appreciated. Mitchell
  • 2. unable to start video convo on msn 7.0.0777
My friend and I both upgraded to MSN 7.0 from MSN Messenger beta (recent versons--I forget exact number), where video conferencing worked perfectly. Since the upgrade, it doesn't work at all. We don't get any error messages... the convo just seems to time out. Audio and video conversations work independantly, but not together in a video conversation. Everything else is working well on each user-end. Any advice? Did MSN start using new ports? If so, do I have to manually configure my firewall port allowances AGAIN?

Error while installing MSN Messenger 7.5

Whenever I try to install MSN Messenger 7.5, I get the following error
message:

"MSN Messenger setup has failed with error code: '1635."

Does anyone know what this means and how I can get rid of it? Please note
that I am not interested in installing MSN Messenger Live (i.e v8.0) at the
moment. Using Windows XP HE SP2.

Greetings,

Are you using or have used any version of Messenger in the past on this PC?

Yes, I used Windows Messenger 4&5 and then MSN Messenger 5&6&7. I then
installed MSN Messenger Live, had some problems with it, and tried to go
back to MSN Messenger 7.5. No luck. Please note that I am able to use
Windows Messenger 5 at the moment.

Jonathan
How/where do I download a copy of MSN Messenger 7.5 but NOT Messenger Live?
I have never been able to use Windows Live Messenger (version 8). When I
attempt to login, I just get the spinning buddies for ever and ever. I have
tried every fix, including your 'policies' registry update but nothing works.
I posted my continuing problem on various threads but I never heard back from
you or anyone beyond that registry update. Tonight, three months after I
first experienced the problem, I thought I'd give it another go and
downloaded Messenger Live all over again. Same thing - those buddies have
been spinning for the last 30 minutes. No error codes or messages, just
spinning buddies. Can I get some more 'personal' help on this problem?
Messenger Live works on my other computer no problem. [For information, when
I tried the Messenger Live BETA, I had a similar problem, but only when the
'remember me/remember my password' boxes were checked.]

Now, I have no access to Messenger - I can't login to Live (version 8) and
can't obtain version 7!

Thanks, this is enormously frustrating.

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to install messenger 7.5 and I get a
windows installer script error, followed by a 1603 error. No anti-spyware of
any kind is running. Have installed latest copy of Windows Installer 3.1 and

The text from the event log is as follows

Can anyone shed any light on this, it is very perplexing and annoying.

Thanks

2.deleting or re-installing Msn Messenger 7.5

I have been trying to delete msn messenger 7.5 and I've been through many of
the web sites online which tells you how to delete it, I've meddled with the
registry and I think all the messenger keys and files are deleted but I am
having trouble removing it out of the add/remove programs.

And another problem is when I try to re-install, an error message comes up
with the code 1635. I have no idea what do now, I think I've done everything
except re-formatting the computer and I don't really want to do that. Is
there any way I can delete it completely and re-install msn messemger?

5.Installing Messenger 7.5

Hello,

I recently upgraded from version 4.7 to the latest 7.5
However, the program failed to upgrade my existing messenger program and i
had two versions installed. this caused a conflict not allowing either to
work.

i have successfully removed version 4.7 (all files including the DLL files)
from the hdd, however, after re-installing, version 7.5 will still not login
at all. I assume theres still a conflict in the system somewhere?
Any help in getting Messenger back online, without a dreaded re-format :) ,
would be much appreciated.

 Cheers,
 Stu
