  • 1. MySQL quey working on SQL5 but noMySQL4
I'm a newbie to MySql/PHP so please be gentle!! I'm writing a web reservation system for a small hotel and the following sql query works perfectly locally on my machine using MySql5 & PHP5, but not on messrs Fasthosts server with PHP4.xx and MySql4.xx (The connection to the DB seems to be working correctly). On the server it throws up an error saying "Unknown column 'Av.AvailDate' in 'where clause'" $sql = "SELECT Distinct RoomTypeID, RoomName,RoomDesc,RoomTerms,RoomConfig,RoomPhoto FROM roomtypes RT Inner Join availability AV ON RT.RoomTypeID = Av.AvailRoomID Where (Av.AvailDate between'".$ArrDate."' and '" .$DelOcc."') AND NOT EXISTS (Select Distinct NoAv.AvailRoomID FROM availability NoAv WHERE NoAv.AvailDate Between '" .$ArrDate."' AND '" .$DelOcc. "' AND NoAv.AvailRooms < 1 AND NoAv.AvailRoomID=Av.AvailRoomID)"; I'd be very grateful for any pointers as I'm completely stuck on this one! -- Buzby There's nothing more dangerous than a resourceful idiot

  • 3. how many of a kind
    Hi, I'm a newbie, so please be patient. I've a table product_name | cat_id prod1 | 1 prod2 | 2 prod3 | 2 prod4 | 2 prod5 | 3 prod6 | 3 prod7 | 4 prod8 | 5 prod9 | 5 prodN | N Is there any way to know how many 1s, 2s, Ns, etc. do we have in the cat_id field or is this a middleware task? I'm not talking about the DISTINCT: I want to know for every number in cat_id how many products do we have. Thanks!
  • 4. Can I charge people to use a website that uses MySQL? (GPL)
Hi, I am in the middle of writing a site that uses MySQL and PHP. I plan on charging people for using the services offered by the site. I am a little unclear as to how the GPL licensing that MySQL uses relates to this? PHP presumably links to the MySQL libraries, but I am not selling the PHP software I have written itself, but rather the output it produces (ie the web site).
  • 5. MS Access query in MySQL
Hi all, I have just migrated all of my data from an MS Access database to MySQL using Navicat. There is a query in MS Access that I use to find duplicate words in my table. The SQL generated by MS Access is: SELECT vocab.English, vocab.POS, vocab.Kana, vocab.Kanji, vocab.jlpt, vocab.cardNum, vocab.dEntered FROM vocab WHERE (((vocab.Kana) In (SELECT kana FROM vocab As Tmp GROUP BY kana HAVING Count(*)>1 ))) ORDER BY vocab.Kana; When I put this same query into MySQL the CPU usage goes up to 100% and takes forever to complete (actually I haven't waited forever but it takes a long time and then I quit the query). Can someone tell me why this happens and what would be an equivalent query to use in MySQL? I am using MySQL server version: 5.0.27-community-nt. Many thanks, Peter.

still get this error from time to time on a local network, and only
after a few seconds does the MySQL server responde.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the reason of this error?

Maybe because you didn't give us anything to look at. These messages
say nothing about the problem.

Of course, with your attitude, people are now much less likely to help
you. A simple "bump" would have given you a better chance of getting help.

And please don't top post.

You are right... I wont top post.

As for the 'something' to look at... well i don't have it, since i don't
even know where to look for it.

All i know is that from time to time, my localhost webserver, simply
'stops' with mysql error 10022, and the if you wait like 3/5 seconds it
comes back again... I have run to the server in expectation of seing
mysql offline, but no... it keeps online, the problem is somewhere in
the connection, but i already changed cables, switchs and even routers.

I Seached the web, and can't get a meanfull solution to this 10022 mysql
error :(

That's why i came here... I apologise if my second post was so 'stupid'
but i really was counting on someone giving me some insight of what i
might try to do... i already log everything, and read the logs and find
nothing, not even in the slow-querys log. nothing...

Thanks for the answer anyway, at least i know someone read it :)

Take care!

2.DSN and error DB Error: connect

Hi all and thanks.
I try install Movifax, an Hylafax PHP front-end.
The installation step say that is necessary change the $dsn entry in
the include file.
The entry is like this: $dsn="mysql://movifax: XXXX@XXXXX.COM /
appliafax2";
I change the account, the password and the name of the database with
mine, but always i obtain "DB Error: connect failed".
There is something other, in a linux box, to setup after the install
of MySql, crate database and user permission, for use this $dsn
system? The PHP page use "pear DB" for connect the database.
Thank all,
regards,
Mauro.

3.Installing mysql as a service error 1067, system error 2

This is really beginning to bug me, I just can't get mysql to install
this way.

I'm installing mysql passively which is equivalent to skipping the
configure system part of the gui install.

Once installed I want to install as a service. The machine I'm
currently using gives the following results:

***********************

F:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin>mysqld-nt.exe install
MySQL defaults-file=F:\my.ini
Service successfully installed.

F:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin>net start mysql
The MySQL service is starting.
The MySQL service could not be started.

A system error has occurred.

System error 1067 has occurred.

The process terminated unexpectedly.

F:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin>

*********************

my.ini contains:

------------------

[mysqld]
# set basedir to your installation path
basedir="F:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\"
# set datadir to the location of your data directory
datadir="F:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\data\"

------------------

On another system, rather than getting the 1067 error, I get "system
error 2". But one step at a time. What am I doing wrong in the above?
I don't know why mysql can't provide a default setup with mysqld-nt
install!

Thanks

Lionel.

4.Why I get mysql error error while opening page?Line: 131 of /ips_k

Hi

This is a SQL Server news group, and you may be better posting in a mysql
specific newsgroup. If the error message is anything to go by you have
reached a connection limit!
