MySQL BAckup Schedule

  • 1. Order by alphanumeric
Hi. I want to sort the following selection list: A1 A10 A5 BA100 BA11 BA5 alphanumerically, so that the list is first ordered by the variable length alphabetic prefix and then by the variable length numeric suffix, ie: A1 A5 A10 BA5 BA11 BA100 Any idea? Note that I cannot change the strings (ie A1 to A0001, etc). Thanks
  • 2. Selecting Max Valued Result From Joined Table
I am trying to select a single entry from the "process_account_inspections" where the column "timestamp" is the Max (resulting in the most recent inspection). My code is below, however I can't find how to select the max timestamp with each row returned. Any suggestions? Currently it just returns the lowest entry in the table. I tried to GROUP BY accounts.account_id HAVING MAX(InspectionDate) but that didn't work. SELECT accounts.*, franchisees.*, offices.*, process_account_inspections.`timestamp` AS InspectionDate, process_account_inspections.inspection_score AS InspectionScore, process_account_inspections.satisfactory AS Satisfactory FROM accounts INNER JOIN franchisees ON accounts.franchisee_id_FK = franchisees.franchisee_id INNER JOIN offices ON franchisees.office_id_FK = offices.office_id LEFT JOIN process_account_inspections ON accounts.account_id = process_account_inspections.account_id_FK GROUP BY accounts.account_id ORDER BY process_account_inspections.`timestamp` ASC Thank you, Chuck

MySQL BAckup Schedule

Postby Andrea » Wed, 20 Jun 2007 19:51:20 GMT

I've a a mysql server with 240 db.
There are some problem if I schedule a backup with MySQL Administration
backup utility of every db (240)?

Can this could be "dangerous"?

If yes.... any suggest to schedule my backup ??
Thanks a lot!

2.Backup schedule (Differential backups)

Hello all, hope someone will be able to help.

I have a number of medium-sized systems that have the following backup regime:
1.	Daily full backups
2.	Hourly transaction log backups
3.	During the window 9p.m 6.a.m the system drive is backed up by TSM.
The plan is created and maintained by the SQL Maintenance plan (sqlmaint).
The old backup files deleted after 48hours as part of the plan to free up
disk space.

A couple of the database grew just over 12GB and I would like implement the
following back schedule for them:

Mon - Differential database backup
Tue - Differential database backup
Wed - Differential database backup
Thu - Differential database backup
Fri - Differential database backup
Sat - Differential database backup
Sun Full database backup
All days Transaction log backups as above

I have scheduled two jobs, one for weekly full backups and the other for
daily differential backups. My question is ow do I rollover to the next
week? I need somehow override the backup device used for differential
backups at the end of the week. I would like to keep all differential
backups for the week and use append to media option. I could not figure out
how to create a separate file as sqlmaint does for complete backups.

3.Editing scheduled backups and time stamping backup files

Sorry for the previous post. Here are the problems:
1. Using enterprise manager, I chose to backup a
database. I picked my backup device and checked the
schedule option, setup the time and frequency of the
backup. It worked properly. How does one go in and edit
or modify the schedule after it is created? I went to
the backup device but, it doesn't show my schedule name
or settings, in fact, it shows the schedule option
unchecked. Any ideas or is it a matter of deleting the
device and recreating it?

2. I want to have each full backup have the basic file
name but have a time stamp added into the name. It would
look something like: databasename_db_200408141830. 2004
is the year, 08 the month, 14 the day, 1830 the hour. I
have seen it done but do not know how to duplicate it.
By doing this, I can go back to previous backups if a
problem occurs. Once again, any ideas?
