I have a router who shares my high-speed internet connection between my two computers. one is connected by LAN to the router and the other by wireless... Now the question is: can i create bridge connections to share the hard disks and files of the 2 pcs?? I don't know what to do because no one of the 2 can see the other... Workgroups??? Thanks

I have a Linksys Wireless-B Broadband router 2.4GHz, connected to my desktop computer via an Ethernet cable. I also have two additional desktop computers and a laptop connected to the network via wireless adapters. Everything is working great - we can all access the Internet - we can all ping each other and get replies. I can share printing capabilites between the wireless computers but not the desktop computer with the Ethernet connection. When I search for the various computers via Start > Search > Computers or People, all the wireless computers find each other but not the Ethernet desktop. However, the Ethernet desktop finds all the other three wireless computers. I've got my HP Officejet Pro connected to my Ethernet desktop,and I would like to be able to print from it from the wireless computers but am unable to do so. Oh, by the way, all computers are running Windows XP svc pack 2. Does any kind soul have a solution? Much appreciated, - 2. ie explorer does not connect to wifi service
Hello, my internet explorer will not connect to the internet with a wifi connection. Wifi is truned on and working fine. IE works in dial-up mode and thru AOL. I keep getting message "no connection to internet" when attempting to use a wifi access point. This problem happened once before but I forgot to write down how to fix it. I have a home wireless network and want to set up some type of external hard drive to back up and store large files that I use, but don't want taking up room on my laptop. Not sure if I'm using the right language, but I want to have a drive on my laptop that is this external hard drive. It also needs to be set up wirelessley. So in essence I will have a much bigger hard drive on my laptop because I will just use this drive that is the external hard drive to store larger files (so these files won't take up space on my laptop, but I'll still have access to them from my laptop). Is this possible? If so, what would I need? Thanks in advance...

You don't need to create a bridge - you've already got a router and Internet connection on both machines. You just need to set up your local area network (lan) sharing. Here is some basic information: Run the Network Setup Wizard on both computers, making sure to enable File & Printer Sharing, and reboot. The only "gotcha" is that this will turn on the XPSP2 Windows Firewall. If you aren't running a third-party firewall or have an antivirus with "Internet Worm Protection" (like Norton 2005/06) which acts as a firewall, then you're fine. If you have third-party firewall software, configure it to allow the Local Area Network traffic as trusted. I usually do this with my firewalls with an IP range. Ex. would be 192.168.1.0-192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. If one or more of the computers is XP Pro: a. If you need Pro's ability to set fine-grained permissions, turn off Simple File Sharing (Folder Options>View tab) and create identical user accounts/passwords on all computers. b. If you don't care about using Pro's advanced features, leave the Simple File Sharing enabled. Simple File Sharing means that Guest (network) is enabled. This means that anyone without a user account on the target system can use its resources. This is a security hole but only you can decide if it matters in your situation. Then create shares as desired. XP Home does not permit sharing of users' home directories (My Documents) or Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder. If that doesn't work for you, here is an excellent network troubleshooter by MVP Hans-Georg Michna. I'm using the Linksys Wireless AccessPoint/Router (Wireless-B 802.11b)with Windows XP Home. I was using the Linksys USB Adapters (802.11b) on a Windows 98SE computer and on a Windows XP Pro computer. 5.Home Networking Problem: Wired pc rarely connects, wireless laptop connects
Hello all, I have Home Networking set up through EarthLink (ADSL). My desktop pc is brand new, running Win XP Pro; wireless notebook computer running the same. DSL modem is by Zyxel, wireless router is a Linksys WRT54G. The problem is, for about the past 2 weeks I usually cannot connect to the Internet using the desktop pc; however I can always connect via the wireless laptop. It's very puzzling because I have not changed any settings on the pc. I've double-and-triple checked all the physical connections from phone jack to pc to router & modem, etc. My network card is supposedly fine. We did have a power outage a few weeks ago but I have gotten the pc to connect a few times since power was restored. It's just not consistent at all. Anyone have any suggestions for me?
