Is it correct to be concerned with any organization that encourages suicide killing, or should America be focused upon the Al-Kaeda movement, which is believed to be located in Afghanistan? If the latter, then America is wrong to be in Iraq. If the former, then since Saddam paid $25,000 to families of suicide bombers (the receipts have been discovered), America was right in attacking Iraq in self defense. -- borland.public.off-topic exists as a runoff for unwanted posts in the technical groups. • 2. Another basic question - converting pdf or doc to one image?
ok, while I'm asking about 'da basics' . . . I have a Word 2002 document, with a number of images embedded. I have a pdf of this using Adobe Acrobat 4 (yes, I know, but it works - it still creates pdf docs). I want to turn the whole pdf or .doc into one .jpg image. Yes, that will be a many page image, but that's what it has to be. A quick go at 'save as' doesn't reveal .jpg as an option in Acrobat 4 or Word 2002. Any suggestions? I'm guessing Acrobat 7 would do it if I upgraded, but maybe there's another way. Is there some freeware thingy to make a 'printer' that prints to .jpg or something? • 3. For Canadians mostly :-)
"Walking Eagle". Prime Minister, Paul Martin, was invited to address a major gathering of First Nations two weeks ago in Northern Canada. He spoke for almost an hour on his future plans for increasing every Native's present standard of living, should he be re-elected. He also referred to his career as Finance Minister. Although the Prime Minister was vague on the details of his plan, he seemed most enthusiastic about his future ideas for helping his "red sisters and brothers". At the conclusion of his speech, the Bands presented him with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name - Walking Eagle. The proud Prime Minister then departed in his entourage to the waiting aircraft, waving to the crowds. A news reporter later inquired of the group of chiefs as to how they came to select the new name given to the Prime Minister. They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of sh*t it can no longer fly. Dan -- borland.public.off-topic exists as a runoff for unwanted posts in the technical groups. I'll buy houses and a flash car, says yob awarded ?67,000

Postby Matt Jacobs » Wed, 23 Mar 2005 06:57:35 GMT

<quote>
A {*filter*}age criminal who received 67,000 in compensation after falling
through a roof while trespassing boasted about his wealth yesterday,
saying that he was looking forward to buying "a few houses and a flash
car".

Carl Murphy, 18, got the payout last week, nine years after being
injured in a 40ft fall at a warehouse in Bootle docks, near Liverpool,
prompting angry protests from crime victims and politicians.
...
"I deserve this money and I don't care what anybody says about me," he
said. "I'm going to buy a big house so I have a place to live with me
mum when she gets out of jail. I might buy a few houses - I'll buy
whatever I want." He added: "The papers just call me a yob and a thug
because I've been done for robbery and {*filter*} but those were just
silly stupid little things, like.
...
Murphy received his compensation after suing the company that owned
the warehouse. He claimed that if the perimeter fence had not been in
disrepair he would not have been able to gain entry and suffer his
injuries.

Mum's in jail, what a surprise.

So, the guy injures himself during the commission of a crime and he
gets paid for it? Wow...

BTW, what's a "yob?"

He was obviously a nine year old kid, when it happened. Kids do such
stuff. Why is he called a {*filter*}age criminal?

He apparently became that later, then he was just "a boy who later
became
a {*filter*}age criminal". As we all know, such boys have no rights.

Still... rewarding someone for climbing up someone elses roof sounds
a bit weirdish to me.

I know I did such stuff, but if I fell through, I bet I got smacked just
for being on someone elses property!

Yup, it's stories like this that actually almost make me agree with Bush on
tort reform - I'd like to see us limit payouts to individuals to cover
medical costs, etc., and perhaps $250k in non-material losses - but rather
than prevent the big multi-million-dollar punitive damages, simply make them
unavailable to the plaintiff. If a company or individual gets swatted for
$20M, okay, plaintiff gets $250k, state public school system or something
similar (like public health system) gets the remaining $19.75M.

So you lose the folks looking for the massive payouts, but you keep the ones
who genuinely got hurt.

Seems like a very bizarre message to send to kids. Especially when
society is struggling with ever younger offenders. Don't tell me the
human brain is evolving.

It looks a bit like a track suit but is shiny, loose and baggy and garishly
coloured.

They were made famous by the comedy series "Only Fools and Horses" which was
about a market trader (what we know as a "barrow boy") who wore them all
the time. I'd be very surprized if you haven't seen it but, if you
haven't, check it out - it's brilliant.

3.How to turn 1000000 into 1.000.000?

Im creating a swf where users enter some numbers to be processed in a formula,
but the results always show huge numbers like 168460123184, making them hard to
read, so I want to find a way to add a "." (a dot) every 3 numbers, so they
would be easier to read...
and I dont have a clue of how that can be done :(

 thanks!

PS: I chose to use dots instead of commas cos here in Brazil we use dots to
separate hundreds from thousands and so on....

4.help ! car specification website, but for a house

Basically I am in the final year of my 7th year architectural education in the
UK and have been asked to put together a presentation of my project in flash so
that the external examiner can play around with it..problem is I don?t know
flash and got to do it for three weeks time.

I am currently putting the images together and they will be finished by next
week,,,,,,,, and could do with help putting them in the presentation

Basically there will be the option of 3 house types?.bungelow, detatched,
semi-detatched and terraced and one will be chosen.

There will then be a choice of the house over 1, 2 or 3 floors

There will then be the choice of a different fa?ade/ front to the house?..it
could be done to fit into English country village or a concrete urabn setting
of an eastern European city?.

In addition you could add architectural features such as dormer windows porch
balcony etc.

Like I say I can provide all the visuals but if anyone help me out with the
flash presentationor any other method you would be seriously helping my stress
levels! it doesn't have to be fancy....just simply do the job

 yours in hope!
