  • 1. Office 2003 Web Services Toolkit 2.01 question
Hi all, I need to consume a Java Web service from VBA using RPC/Literal encoding. I ran some tests with the MS Office 2003 Web Services Toolkit 2.01 but apparently the toolkit uses RPC/Encoded by default for requests. How can I switch the SOAP client to RPC/Encoded? If it is not possible to do so, is there another way to consume a Web service from VBA using RPC/Literal? Thank you in advance for any comments! Best regards, Pierre

  • 3. How to detect 2007 vs. 2003 documents?
Apologies if this isn't the right newsgroup for this question...if it's not, please point me to a better forum for this. The issue: Our internal users are using Office 2007. They need to publish Word files to our public site via our CMS. We've told folks to not post docx files but instead 'back save' to Office 2003 doc files as a lot of the public has not upgraded to 2007 or has an office suite that can't yet convert 2007 files. The problem is that some of our users, instead of using the SAVE AS feature instead renamed their .docx extensions to .doc. So, we now have docx files littered throughout our site with .doc extensions. Is there anyway to tell these files apart from actual 2003 .doc files? Windows, once you change the file extension, assumes the file extension is correct. Short of renaming each and everyone to .zip files to see if they decompress the docx format, is there anything we can do to find the improperly named files? -Darrel
  • 4. changes shape.name in powerpoint does not work
Hi, I am afcing a strange problem: In a certain presentation I am not able to change the names of some shape, like textboxes. This problem exists then for alle shapes on a slide. On other slides it work perfectly, again for all shapes. To cahnge the name I select the shape an run a makro: ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange(1).Name="test23" If I then read the name by ?ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange(1).Name the correct name is shown. But after saving, closing and opening again, the shape has its original name again... Ideas?? Thanks, Christian

Meaning of an underscore as the postfix to a VBA function name.....

Postby lab27 » Thu, 24 Jun 2010 19:38:51 GMT

Excel (at least 2003 and 2007) hide VBA functions from the wizard and
autocomplete list if they're postfixed with an underscore.

(try creating foobar1_ and looking in the wizard).

Seems fairly reasonable behaviour, I'm just wondering if it's actually
documented anywhere?
(can't find any description of it, despite a fair bit of googling.
It's not particularly (or remotely, even ;) important, I'm just /
intrigued/ now!)

Rgds,

Lee.

1.Name Ranges: Function to convert special characters underscores

I created a named range using the name: Overall Segment Size - Street $(M)

Excel automatically converts the name to get rid of special characters and
spaces to: Overall_Segment_Size___Street___M

The question is: Is there a function which allows me to convert the names
to this format before naming the range?

Please help!

3.underscore between name in excel csv format to export names in

I think the formula should be

=Sum(if('daily data'!$a$2:$a$2000<='by pay week'!a2, 'daily
data'!$e$2:$e$2000,0))

You have to array enter the formula, that is with Ctrl-Shift-Enter

4.underscore in email address covered by hyperlink underscore

In Excel 2007 when I type in an email address that contains an underscore the
auto underscore that denotes the hyperlink overlays the underscores in the
address. The data in the cell displays correctly in the data bar but not in
the cell. Normally I wouldn't care but one of the secretaries pointed out
that if we were to print it out it would look as if the address had spaces in
it, not underscores. My question is: Can I change how a hyperlink
underscore is displayed?
