  • 1. Save As window keeps popping up
I have been running Office 2000 Pro for years and just upgraded to Office 2003 in hopes to resolve problem. Occasionally, I can type for hours using Outlook or Word before the "Save As" window pops up by itself. At that time, the (red X) or the <cancel> button clears window for a second but then it pops back up as before. Only when I press the <ESC> key will the window clear. But only until my next few keystrokes. Example: (letters, shift-key, backspace, etc.) Then, the "Save As" window pops up again quicker. And then it continues to pop up even without keystrokes. I cannot write word documents nor email without this occurring. Excel and other programs are not affected. Background: I've always installed updates for XP and office as they became available. Norton scan does not detect any problem. At this writing, in Internet Explorer, I have no problem. It only affects Word or Outlook programs. Can anyone please help direct me on eliminating this infuriating problem.....thanks in advance.

I want to use the "Microsoft Office Binder" feature that came with older versions of MS Office. I only own MS Office 2003. Does Microsoft make the Binder program available for free anywhere since they discontinued it?
  • 5. Frontpage 2003 - Frames
I posted this in the FP group with no luck... I have just upgraded to FP2003. There seems to be no way I can enable the "Frames" tab or "Cell Formatting" for rounded corners. I have enabled frames in "Page Options//Authoring" but still the frames tab is greyed out. I can't find any way to enable "Cell Formatting" to get rounded corners, which is also greyed out. Can anyone help me with this, please? TIA Ed

Leave it to Microsoft to drop one of your favorite assistants

Since I searched and couldn find any way to add another assistant back into office XP (only found help with Office 97), I decided to trick the existing office XP version by renaming one of the existing office assistants and replacing it with the genius office assistant. It worked

Copy Genius files from Office 2000 C
			GENIUS.AC
			GENIUS.ACS

or if you still have 1 old office 2000 application: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office

In the Office XP location for Office Assistants
		C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office1
In the above directory copy over both Genius file
			GENIUS.AC
			GENIUS.ACS
So had to fool the new XP office that genius was F1.ACS and F1.AC

Rename existing F1 assistant files to (F1-old.ACG, and F1-old.ACS)
		Then rename a Copy of Genius files {GENIUS.ACG & GENIUS.ACS} to F1.ACG and F1.ACS
This way when Office XP looks up F1, it will actually be GENIUS >> It worked

...and there are those of us who despise the Assistants in any form
since they do nothing but take up space and slow down every application
and OS they reside in.
