Changing default office open and save dialogs View to DETAILS
by Ym1i » Sun, 10 Apr 2005 14:37:02 GMT
This must be possible... at least you would sure hope so. The default "View"
in open and save dialog boxes across the MS Office 2003 (and prior versions)
of an alpha list is almost never useful to me or my colleages. How do I get
ALL open and save dialog boxes to default to "Details" AND ordered by most
recent files first (i.e., by most recent "date modified", so I can see the
dates. With many docs in a folder who can remember the name of the most
recent version of a file... If it was at the top of my list all the time,
many hours a year of wasted time changing the view and tons of key clicks on
my 54 year olde fingers would be saved. Please help! Cant think of a single
person I have mentioned this problem to who do not agree!!! Fix it MS, or if
it is doable currently... there is no Help "query" that every produces a
relevent answer... so fix that!

Look at the top row of the Open File dialogue, one of the tools allows you
to select the view (same as Windows Explorer), in Detail view you can select
the column to sort by and the order (little arrow, top of the list).
It's always been there!

Sorry "Me"... you did not read my question correctly. Of course "View" lets
me change it to "details"... rather than only alpha... I said that!
I want the DEFAULT!!! "view" on sauch dialogs (meaning every time I open a
save or save dialog box) to be in "Details" view mode... not having to change
it 50 times a day from alpha with every opening of a save or open dialog box
in the entire office suite... The time and keystoke waste is HORRIBLE!

It should retain the last settings used (always has for me).
