  • 1. Multiple activations?
I just purchased office 2003 through my school. I currently use my parent's computer, and would like to start using office 2003 immediately. However, I am getting my own computer in a number of months and would like to install this on that computer, even if it means downgrading back to office 97 on this computer. Is this possible? Or if I activate now and try to move it, will activation on the new computer fail?

  • 3. Windows Installer starts for all Office XP documents
I have seen similar posts here for Office 2000 and have tried the fixes, but without success. I am running Windows XP Pro and Office XP. The first message box is Windows Installer saying "Preparing to Install" The second message box says "Installing components for ...(Access, Word, Excel, etc)" Everything then works ok, it is just very annoying.
  • 4. Word & Excel get very slow response too often
I have several new Ultra PC's Celeron 2.8 ghz 256 M ram loaded with XP PROF SP2, Office XP SBE, SAV 9.0, etc. These are nice quick PC's mostly. 1 to several times per day it gets very slow on opening Word or excel files. It seems that when open box is selected it goes out & get the list of network share folders so you can select your file. This takes anywhere from a few seconds to 2 full minutes just to see the list of shares. Same on save as selection. Performance at these times shows very little CPU usage, but everything else you may try to do is very slow also. The app may say Not Responding, but if you are patient a few minutes it will come back & give you a file selection list. Something is tying up the computer without using much CPU power. Any ideas???

No. Office 98 is for Mac and Office 2000 is for Windows.

I also have a problem trying to install Office 97 with Windows 98 (ME). It gives an error that it is not a win32 app.

1.Install Office 97 on Win 98 Problem

I tried to install Office 97 on a Win 98 PC. When I install to the C:
drive and try to run the program, I get an error message, "Not enough
memory or hard drive space to run the program." This PC has 256MB RAM
and 8.8 GB free on the hard drive.
To get it to run, I had to uninstall and reinstall. using the option
to run the programs from the CD-ROM drive?

Any suggestions as to what I can do to resolve this?

2.Access '97 crashes under Win '98 with Office Xp installed

I can't get Access started. I get an error message: "A system error
occurred, or there isn't enough free memory to start Microsoft Access.
Close unneeded programs and try again."

I've pretty much tried every possible solution found on the web and the MS
Knowledge Base, all to no avail. I've re-checked the system requirements
for Access '97 and even though I'm well overdue for a new PC, a Pentium II
300 Mhz with 64 megs of RAM and plenty of disk space, appears to amply meet
the state requirements. I suspect that I have a DLL conflict with the
library files installed for Office Xp Standard Edition.

Any clues anyone?

Tks!

I cannot install my Office 2000 Professional on my Win 98
