  • 1. How do I resolve sync client error with iphone?
Since the update on Tuesday, August 12th, I receive an error message beginning with "OutlookSyncClient has encountered a problem and needs to close." while syncing my iphone. I end up with a list of "no name" contacts on the phone, which when selected/opened have no useable data in them. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and have you been able to resolve it?

OCR not working after 2003 server updates MS Office Document Imagi

Postby TWFyaw » Thu, 23 Mar 2006 03:54:27 GMT

After applying Server 2003 SP1, hotfix KB901115, Citrix Metaframe XP SP4,
Citrix Rollup XE104W2K3R01, OCR doesn't appear to work in Microsoft Office
Document Imaging. I get an "OCR was not successful (no test was found) on
one or more pages." error. This is a single page .tif file. A non-updated
server works fine. Any ideas, suggestions on a fix for this item? I've
already tried reinstallation, repair of MODI on this server with no success.

1.OCR no longer works in MS Tools - Office 2003 Pro

Hi,

I no longer able to OCR with MS Tools for some reason.

I scan a document with MS Tools Document Scanning and it scans fine and
saves as a TIFF file.

I used to then open MS Tools Document Imaging, open the saved TIFF file and
choose Page > All Pages then Tools > Send to Word and it would convert the
TIFF image to plain text and open Word to that converted plain text.

For some reason, it won do that anymore. I just get an error about how MS
Tools may not be properly installed after many months of using it and
OCRng.

Can someone please help?

I chatted with Tech Supp at Microsoft but they couldn't help.

Thank you!

2.REPOST: OCR not working in Microsoft Office Document Imaging

I've posted this numerous times but have yet to receive/see a reply... Is
this such a rare occurrence that nobody knows how/why it could occur?

3.OCR not working in Microsoft Office Document Imaging: RESOLVED

MODI OCR issue resolved!

Several weeks ago, I posted the message below a few times referring to a
problem I was having with MS Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) losing
its ability to scan and OCR. I received no responses of substance and
basically gave up on the problem until a few days ago when I started getting
the following windows error message:

"The instruction at "0x009a96bc" referenced memory at "0x0000000". The
memory could not be "written"

It was happening everytime I opened windows explorer and sometimes when I
opened Internet explorer (IE7).

After doing much research on google, the most common fix was to turn off the
WIA service (windows acquisition service) for that specific error message as
it caused conflicts with HP OfficeJet software. I have a wireless HP7410.
So I tried to turn off the service and it was already turned off. In
experimenting and trying to turn it back on, I found it would hang and could
not turn back on. So I decided to uninstall the HP printer altogether as it
was not fully functional anyways. I figured why not clean out the registry
from all things HP and just do a re-install.

I did this and it fixed the error message. I turned WIA back on and along
with that, tried to open an .mdi MODI file I had on my desktop. It opened
without a hitch and the OCR worked again! Clearly the HP scanner drivers
caused a conflict within the OS. So... if you have an HP printer/scanner,
I suggest you uninstall and perform a software re-install of the software.

4.Link tables in MS Access not working in Server 2003

I am trying to use an existing application (ACCESS 2000 or
Office XP) in the new windows version "Server 2003". It
uses link tables between two MDB databases. The link
tables functionality no longer seems to work. The
documentation says you can not use link tables in an
ACCESS project but it never seems to exclude non-project
types. Is Server 2003 making an assumption about any MDB
file it opens and therefore blocking this capability? If
so is there a good work-around?

5.Office 2003 - "New Office Document" not working

After installing Office 2003 (Had to uninstall Office XP
first), the "New Office Documents" will open the dialog
box, but when you select any template, nothing happens.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling that feature
from the CD (per some support document), but to no avail.

Everything else works, but this is a minor annoyance that
is bothering me to no end...

Any help would be appreciated

TIA
