No and no. Office uses a new file format that the Genius is not written in. Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. 1.Add a new office assistant in office XP - add back in Genius office assistant
Leave it to Microsoft to drop one of your favorite assistants Since I searched and couldn find any way to add another assistant back into office XP (only found help with Office 97), I decided to trick the existing office XP version by renaming one of the existing office assistants and replacing it with the genius office assistant. It worked Copy Genius files from Office 2000 C GENIUS.AC GENIUS.ACS or if you still have 1 old office 2000 application: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office In the Office XP location for Office Assistants C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office1 In the above directory copy over both Genius file GENIUS.AC GENIUS.ACS So had to fool the new XP office that genius was F1.ACS and F1.AC Rename existing F1 assistant files to (F1-old.ACG, and F1-old.ACS) Then rename a Copy of Genius files {GENIUS.ACG & GENIUS.ACS} to F1.ACG and F1.ACS This way when Office XP looks up F1, it will actually be GENIUS >> It worked
2.How to get genius assistant into Office Pro 2002
Genius is a selectable assistant at the college where I'm taking an Office course. I love him and I recently bought Office professional, thinking he'd be there. Alas, not to be. I downloaded him and have been playing with trying to install him for about a week. Any further suggestions?
3.Problems from changing from Excel 97 to Excel 2002 (Office 97 to Office XP)
We have got an Excel/VBA application working very well with Excel 97: in dropdown boxes, we were able to double click an item in a dropdown box to select it using OLEOBJECTS. As we change to Office XP (Excel 2002), one problem occurred: now, the very same action wouldn't be able to select any item from the dropdown box, and there was NO error message at all. It seems that the program, for some unknown reason, skips the OLEOBJECTS. Any one has the similar experience or knows the back-end of Excel 2002? Is there any change in terms of OLEOBJECTS from Microsoft when their upgrading from Excel 97 to 2002? Thanks all! .InsertLines .CountOfLines + 1, " strSection = ActiveSheet.OLEObjects(""OurList"").Object.List(ActiveSheet.OLEObjects(""OurList"").Object.ListIndex,1)"
