Is there a way to force MODI to print the image scaling to the full page?

Why won't office 2007 install?

Postby RHJldw » Wed, 01 Aug 2007 12:42:00 GMT

I get the following "setup error" at the start of installation:

"Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not
available. Run setup again from the original source disc or download
location."

However, I am using the original source disk - sent straight to me from
Redmond under Microsoft's Home Use Program.

It turns out the my computer came with a trial version of office 2007 that I
didn't even know about. I uninstalled this version, but the problems still
persists.

Maybe this has something to do with me trying to change the location of my
data files by following this advice:

"Change the Public folder locations in the registry. Run regedit and change
the values within
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Shell
Folders"

Please help - I am very frustrated that I can't even install this software

Try to copy the contents of the disc to a local folder. If the copy is
successful try to install from there.

1st and 2nd copy attempts caused the computer to go to the blue screen and
reboot (tried to copy to the d: partition)

I was able to copy on the 3rd attempt - this time to the c: (where VISTA
resides)

unfortunately, I received the same error

Hmmm.

So the error you are getting indicates that it can't read a file needed for
setup.

When you try to copy the contents to the hard drive you get blue screens 2
out of 3
times...

I would guess you have a hardware failure with either the dvdrom or the hard
drive.

Are you able to use that same DVD to install office on a second machine?

I probably do have a h/w issue with my DVD player but I'll tackle that
problem later . . .

Even trying to install from c: (once I finally got it copied) I got the same
installation error.

The disk did install properly on my desktop computer. Since I make the same
registry change (to get my public folder on d: instead of c:) on my desktop,
I suspect the problem lies with the fact that this computer came with a trial
version of office 2007 pre-installed.

I uninstalled the trial version, but get the same error. The uninstall left
the trial version's "activation assistant" behind. I try to put in my new
product code at the activiation assistant screen, but it will not let me.
(which makes sense, because office 2007 is no longer on the computer).

Since I can't install, I'm at a dead end - and I have .docs, .xls, and .ppts
I need to work on . . .

re your machines networked? Could you create a share on your second machine
copy the source to it and then access it from comptuer #1 and run setup?

Even though your 3rd file copy seemed to be successful.. the error message
still indicates source read failure.

You have the Office 2007 Enterprise edition which you purchased from your employer and sent to you directly from MS in Redmond.

This version and issues arising from it should be addressed to the IT person of the company from where you purchased it from. They hold the Volume license and tools\contacts for getting your issue straightened out.

I can't try the network share suggestion because I'm on a prolonged business
trip and am in a hotel. However, here's why I'm very sure that this is not a
source read failure: my wife got another Microsoft Enterprise 2007 Home Use
Program disk because she works for the same employer I do. Why? Because at
first I thought the reason it would not install on my laptop was because of a
licensing issue. Today, I tried both DVD ROMs, and the same errors result.

I did discover another clue: when trying to install in safe mode, I get
further through the process, then get a different error. Here's what happens
when installing in safe mode: first, it asks me to input my product key (it
doesn't do that normally). It gives me a green check on the product key. It
then allows me to either "install now" or "customize". No matter what drive
I try to install to, or the options I choose under customization, I still get
the following error early in the installation:

"Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 encountered an error during setup"

ust a thought but maybe you have 3rd party software interfering?
Anti-virus, some malware prevention software, some privacy software,
Norton Goback or the like?

I went ahead and disabled all of the Norton security protections and tried
again to install but got the same unsuccessful result

Problem solved - I used "msconfig" to disable other 3rd party applications
and it finally installed

cannot get Office Enterprise 2007 to install. I am using a Microsoft
Home Use Program disc & trying to install it on a fresh install of
Vista Ultimate. I have tried everything mentioned in this thread and
the farthest I have got in the setup process is right after inputting
the CD Key, I get the error message: "Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007
encountered an error during setup". I searched the KB on Technet &
found that error message but their solution didn't make any sense for
vista as the command they give to locate the file and delete it
doesn't work and doing a search of my hard drive including hidden
files could not find it. So if anybody else has anything else for me
to try I am all ears. Thank You.

1.BCM won't install now after NEW 2007 Office Trial was installed

I have been using Outlook 2007 Beta version with Business Contact Manager for
several months. Today I got the email from Microsoft that the new "Trial
Version" of Office 2007 was available. I downloaded it and installed.
Installer said I had to remove all the "old" versions of everthing first,
which I did.

Then I installed the new TRIAL version of Office 2007 with Outlook 2007.
After it installed, I opened Outlook and Business Contact Manager is not part
of the trail. I tried to install the prior Beta version of Business Contact
Manager but it won't install in the new "Trial" version of Outllok 2007.
Error message tells me there are files missing and to instert the CD that
came with the program. Of course I have no CD since it was all downloaded.

Can I get a new "Trial" version of Outlook 2007 that will work with the new
"trial" verson of Outlook 2007.

I have thousands of customer files in the Beta version of Outlook 2007. I
tried on import them but since BCM is not installed yet it won't let me
import my old/current BCM files into the trial verison of Outlook 2007.

Please help,
