I tried to install office 97 on computer wih xp operating system. I am trying to completely remove it now, microsoft article158658refers to 254250 which in turn has a note about a office removal wizzard. I can't find the wizzard. Does it still exist? How else can all of office 97 be removed

Lately some of my documents don't have the thesaurus available when I try and use it. I get the menu, go to synonyms, but all I get is no suggestions. But I do get suggestions, and the thesaurus, in other documents. In fact, I've just discovered that sometimes my thesaurus in not available in different paragraphs of the SAME document! You get the thesaurus and suggestions for a particular word in one paragraph, but no thesaurus or suggestions for the SAME word in another paragraph. Can anyone explain this? - 4. If there is no going and something goes wrong--then what? Why bother trying? And any forecasts as to the costs involved--it won't be free, will it?

It appears that "eraser" will not work with XP operating system. Have you tried the Add/remove Programs route?

I did try removing it with add/remove but it did not remove it all. I tried to remove the rest manually but some of it would not remove. There have been references to mistakes in the registry while trying to run access before I tried to uninstall.

Did you look in the registry as to the sections relating to Office in HKCU and HKLM?

I am not familiar with the regestry and have not tried to correct anything in the registry. I guess I may have to learn how to fix the registry.

This has failed with a pop-up asking me to insert the XP Professional SP2 CD which I don't have. Why would it ask for this? 4.Sharing Access 97 Database on NT and XP Operating Systems
I am trying to share an Access 97 database amongst Windows NT and XP users. To make matters worse, NT machines are running Office 97 Professional and XP machines are running Office XP. Within the application the need exists to use Excel to import .csv files in addition for browsing files. When application is opened in XP (and a minor change to a form made) the next time an NT users opens app, an error occurs missing Excel 10 library. User can remove error by removing check from missing reference library Excel 10 (Excel.exe), and clicking Excel 8 (Excel8.olb). This process is too cumbersome for the average user. Is there any way to make this sharing issue go away? It will be several more months before my entire Company moves to XP.
5.New Computer Office 97 on Old computer upgrade to Office XP
I have a beat up old (5 years) laptop with Office 97 on it. I've now purchased a new computer. I want to install Office XP on the new computer but want to use the upgrade version rather than pay the full purchase price like I did for the Office 97 residing on the old laptop. How do I get the upgrade version to recognize that I do in fact own the old Office 97 version. It's just on a different computer that will no longer be used.
