  • 1. Cut text from WebPage + paste into Word 2003 document lasts really 10-20 seconds ?
Hi Matthias, The default behavior for Word when copy/paste from an HTML source is for Word to work in HTML and connect to the web page for the content. If you use Edit=>Paste Special and in Word choose a text listing other than 'HTML' you shouldn't see the delay. ================== <<"Matthias Mernsen" < XXXX@XXXXX.COM > wrote in message news:45ae05c2$0$30317$ XXXX@XXXXX.COM ... When I cut a few lines of simple text from a web page (in Internet Explorer 6) and try to paste it into an existing Word2003 document that the paste operation lasts approx. 10-20 seconds. Is this normal ? This occurs under Win2000 as well as under WinXP How can I speed up pasting ? • 3. Office 2003 Standard vs Professional
You should have uninstalled the Office 2003 trial software (Start | Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs) before installing your full version of Office 2003 Pro. At this point, I suggest you uninstall the full version, uninstall the trial version, and then reinstall the full version. Your existing Outlook .pst file shouldn't be affected, but you might want to make a backup of it anyway in case Something Bad happens. meadowbrook wrote: > I recently installed Office 2003 Professional (503MB) to replace my Office > 2003 trial standard version (402MB). I have a computer thati has windows XP SP@ installed, OEM, and also Office 2000 from Hungary. Now, I don't read hungarian. All of the programs are coming up in hungary, including messenger, outlook, and even explorer when I try to go to microsoft help. I've tried to change the language in control panel, but haven't succeeded. My desktop is in english, but when I open programs I get Hungarian. In fact, when I go to Googe, I get Google hungarian. Hi there,

When I try to perform "Save As" in Office XP (SP 2), it takes a long time
(about 2mins) for the "Save As" dialog box to appear. Kindly advise. Many
thanks.

Regards,
Amee

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.

Do you get similar slowness for other file-related dialog boxes, such as
File - Open and Insert - File? Frequent causes include a very heavily
populated Save in: location, a Save in: location on a slow network drive, or
other network issues (e.g., reconnecting to a mapped network drive). Are you
saving over a network drive? Does your list of drives inclue a mapped
network drive? If so, does removing mapped drives eliminate the problem? If
not, has it always been slow, or is this a new? If it's a new problem, then
it might be a hardware problem.

The problem lies on the wrong DNS server and the ranking of the DNS servers
that is configured on the pc. We overlook this area as we can use it to
access the LAN & Internet.

1.Save dialog takes long time to change directories

Hi,
I am using Office 2003. Lately, I observed that, whenever I want to
save a document, I do FILE>SAVE, and then change the directory in the
SAVE dialog box. The change of directory takes atleast 1 minute for
each directory, even if I go to "My documents", or "My Computer".

Any ideas why this could be so?

Thanks.

2.Access XP takes a long time to save changes

Hi,

I have a small database, about 60MB, with 15 forms, and
quite a bit of VBA code on each form. I recently added a
tab control to the bottom of each form that has
contributed to the large amount of code.

Now when I make any sort of changes to the form, and save,
it can take 20 minutes to save and close the database or
the form.

I have a decent machine, 2.1Ghz, 512MB RAM, etc. I'm
running Office XP SP2.

Anybody else ever experienced excessive save times with
forms that have large amounts of VBA code?

Thanks,

JP

3.Deleting block of text takes a long, long, LONG time

When I try to delete selected (highlighted) text, nothing seems to happen for
a very long time. Word 2007 seems to just sit and think, and does nothing for
30s to a minute. For very short pieces of text (several characters) it goes
faster, for medium sized (1 page), the delay is unnaceptable.

This happens regardless of whether I use Backspace, Delete, Ctrl+X, or just
type over selected text.

It's a very big issue when using any macros that rely on repeatedly
pasting/deleting blocks of text, such as any of the translation tools that
integrate with Word via macros (Trados, Logoport).

I'm using Word 2007 SP2 (and a computer fast enough to run most new games,
so you'd think deleting 600 words would not be a problem...)

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

4.word 2002 font screen takes a long time to appear

In an earlier post I reported that Word 2002 was not responding when I did
Format/Font or Modified a Style. To my amazement, the Font screen comes up
but after what I'd consider an very long time (30 seconds plus). I was
prematurely closing the font screen assuming it stopped responding. What
would Word be looking for that initial request that is making take so long?
However, once it comes up it appears very quickly from that point on for
that session of Word. When I reopen Word that first font screen takes a
long time. I just upgraded to 2002 from Word 97 on my XP laptop. Is this
normal behavior for Word 2002 and XP?

One other question. On my Windows 98 machine all the font icons were TT,
with the XP machine some fonts show TT but most have an O icon but still
has the .ttf file extension. COuld someone tell me what the O stands for?

TIA
