I recently bought a new pc with Vista home premium as its operating system. I did not want to use the trial version of MS office 2007 already pre-installed, so installed al legal version of Office XP, which I then registered. I found this ran slow, and finally decided the problem was the pre-installed Office 2007, and uninstalled it. This did not help improve the speed. I then found I did need the extra capacity of Office Pro 2007, and purchased it. I have installed it on my laptop and it activated without problems. BUT on my desktop the software installed, but refuses to activate. There is an activation wizard on the main menu, but this seems to be a legacy from the pre-installed sofware. When I go to the tab saying click her to activate a purchased copy of MS Office Pro 2007, all it does is start Word. If I go to Word or any other of the Office suite and click on Activate, nothing happens. Just as annoyingly, Word is now operating very slowly, with lots of egg-timer signals if I change from one screen to another. All the advice (that I have found) on the MS web site, assumes the activation wizard works. In my case it doesn't. Can anyone help please? -- An MS office user since 1994 and still learning

template: song lists for cd sleeves 4.5 by 4.5" (not cd cases)

Postby SmVycmkxMDMx » Sat, 28 Jul 2007 02:06:05 GMT

Hello:
Unfortunately I am going to make this sound more difficult than I should
and I apologize for that fact up-front. I got stuck trying to create a
template in Excel.
I burn many cd's with identical song lists, place them in cd sleeves (not
the larger cases), and mail them. Paper size that fits a sleeve is approx.
4.2" width by 4.5" length --- the four identical lists can fit onto one piece
of regular letter paper with custom margins: currently I have it set up to
print with no header or footer; "0.25" for top and bottom; "0.12" for right
and left. Nothing fancy for borders, pictures, designs, etc.
Note: most of these CD's do not have many songs (avg. is 6 songs per cd):
Ideally I would like a template that:
I can type the title of CD on top [should this be a header?].
Below it would be the list of songs:
Track number (possibly automatically populate?)
Name of song
[Possibly a third column for length of song but not necessary]
I would like a to fit each song on one line instead of it going onto a
second one but sometimes that is not practical
Bottom of list: space for notes if necessary; one or two lines [footer?]
Could a template automatically change the size of the font depending upon
how much space is used?

-- I've tried to write the description multiple times but above is the best
I can do and I apologize for that fact (especially since all I am trying to
get is four boxes -- almost squares -- on one sheet of paper!) Any help with
this will be greatly appreciated, especially by the recipients of the cd's,
since my handwriting is as bad as my communication skills. === Be well, -
Jerri

Hi, Jerri1031,

Is there any reason that you are doing this in Excel as opposed to a word
processor (Word) or desktop publisher (Publisher)?

I have found that dimensions are easier to measure to create your own
template in Word or Publisher, because they do a better job of letting you
manage layouts with rulers and more precise measurements.

1.Can mailing list in Works 4.5 be moved into Access

I have 2 mailing lists totalling together nearly 400 names, in a Works 4.5

offered to me, but I do not have Excel in my computer. I read, I think on
the MS website, that Access is the best program for mailing lists. I am
willing to buy Access. Could the Works 4.5 list be transferred into Access?
Could the Excel list be read in Access and merged with the list from Works
4.5? Would it take great expertise to do this, or could an average computer
user do it?

I now use Windows XP in my computer.

4.Activesync 4.5, Outlook 2007 not syncing, says not installed

Others seem to have had the same problem, yet I can't find a solution. I am
running a Thinkpad R50e, XP Pro SP2, Office 2007, and Activesync 4.5 and Axim
X3i. I use this at home and at work but not connected to my work domain in
any way. Until I upgraded to Office 2007 everything was fine. Using the
office2007 pre-release it was fine. Once we purchased the new licenses and
reinstalled, Activesync would say Outlook was not installed.

I have tried everything - uninstall AS, uninstall Office - and then
reinstall. I've wiped my Axim and reinstalled.

Anything to do with outlook no longer works - contacts, tasks, calendar
etc... if I unselect all those items I can sync (ie: Audible and AvantGo,
backup file transfers etc...)

I've also tried fixmapi as suggested elsewhere. No luck.

Is there a manual way I can link the PPC to Outlook and sync? everything is
installed in default directories as well. There must be a registry key
somewhere that is pointing to the wrong location for Outlook. HELP?!?

5.How to convert Office Mobile Word docx files to RTF using Activesync 4.5

I've decided to experiment with using Activesync 4.5.0 (build 5096) to send
my Word mobile documents from my HTC TyTN II (Windows Mobile 6 device) to my
desktop in rtf format. The problem is that AS 4.5 doesn't list docx files as
a file type it can convert. Instead something called 'Pocket Word Document'
with a psw extension is the 'word' format listed.

Can someone please advise how this works. TIA.
