  • 3. Excel: change Z-axis scale
Hi folks. Just a short one... does anyone know how to change the scale on the Z-axis when doing a contour plot? Also, if anyone can tell me how to change the formatting of the numbers on the legend without having to change the formatting on the source worksheet, I'd be greatful. You can do this for other graph types, but I can't figure out how for a contour plot. I'm sure this is really simple, but I can't figure it out, and it's annoying me. Thanks.

Microsoft Office "Save In" box malfunction

Postby THluZGllQmVl » Tue, 24 Oct 2006 02:01:01 GMT

When I'm using any of the Microsoft Office applications and I go to the Save
As dialog box and try to click the drop down arrow for "Save In" to change to
a different folder, the hour glass icon comes on and I'm stalled at this
point. Opening the Task Manager window shows the name of the document listed
twice and in each line "Not Responding". I've tried updating Office (I'm
completely up-to-date), and I've run the Detect and Repair feature--neither
has helped. Any suggestions?

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.

Hey Garfield (or Odie) -- Many thanks for the response to the mystery of the
malfunctioning Save In. Disconnecting the mapped drive did the trick,
however, it was about the least intuitive issue I've ever come across.
Again, a great big THANK YOU. -Lyndie

4.Microsoft Word 2002 outline malfunction

My o.s. is Windows XP, home ed.; my computer has Microsoft Word 2002
(10.6838.6839 - SP3). I've not had any problems until about 5 months ago. I
regularly use: Blank Document - Bullets and Numbering - Body Text First (I.
A. 1. a.) etc. Within the last few months, whenever I attempt to use the
outline, the script either appears italicized or embolden or both. I've
tried modifying the format, but I can't get it back to the way that it was
with the original default. I think that I may have downloaded an update that
supposed to be an improvement. I just want the outline function back to the
was it was. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

5.Microsoft Word Malfunctioning

Ever since around December or so I have not been able to open Microsoft Word.
Originally when this problem arose, I thought it was my computer because I
could also not open the default WordPad. However after one or two restarts, I
could open WordPad. Naturally I did a search to see if anyone else has had
this problem, and I recieved information to run a search for the file
'normal.dot' and to delete this. Supposedly, this was supposed to restart
Word from scratch and in doing so solve my problem. I did this, and it did
work, originally. However, I tried to open Word again, and it will not work.
It is obviously not convenient to have to do this everytime I need to open
Word, and some of the time it does not even work. What can I do to fix this
problem? In case I was no in depth enough, here is what happens:
I click to open Microsoft Word, and the opening window comes up, along with
the busy signal on my mouse pointer. At this point, it freezes. It does not
freeze my computer, I can still work, its just that word never opens.
However, when this occurs, I cannot shut off my computer safely because my
computer freezes, and will not unfreeze however long I wait. After I restart
my computer and try to open word again, an alert message pops up saying Word
failed to open properly, would I like to open in Safe Mode. However, if I
open in safe mode, it freezes my entire system.
