When using MS Excel or Word 2007 and attempting to open files, after clicking
on File/Open and upon clicking Look In the machine hangs for fif{*filter*} to
thirty seconds almost every time (about 80% of the time it will do this, but
not every time). We are not sure if its caching some network shares or
attempting to browse certain folders, but is there a way to make the 'Look
In' part of the search more responsive (ie not hang) ? TIA ...

I have been experiencing the same trouble as Kalenta(post 10/22/08). I cannot open any Office 2007 application. I have XP/SP3 on a 1.5 ghz Intel Centrino. I have approx 1.6 gb of my equipped 2 gb available, and 8 gb of my 30 gb C: drive available. This began after I had to restore my system from an external backup file(due to a spyware bug that I could not get rid of) on 10/11. I ran Office Diagnostics which found 1 problem which it "fixed", but did not help. Subsequent diagnostics are NTF repeatedly. After the initial diag, I linked to Office Online Diag help. It said it was unable to access a "required file" for the 'Update Diag', but the 'fix' requires one of the Office apps to be opened which I can't do. I have removed Office and reinstalled from disk, to no avail. I tried downloading Office SP1 update, that fails with a message "cannot access file that it needs..." (paraphrased). I have gotten into the system log files in the C:\windows folder. I found a log from 10/12, (during a Windows update dnld, I think) that references 13 different xxxx.cab files that "do not exist". I suspect file corruption or loss during the restore. Related to my Office problem? What can I do? I apologize for the length of this post. -- Rosie52 - 2. When I try to delete selected (highlighted) text, nothing seems to happen for a very long time. Word 2007 seems to just sit and think, and does nothing for 30s to a minute. For very short pieces of text (several characters) it goes faster, for medium sized (1 page), the delay is unnaceptable. This happens regardless of whether I use Backspace, Delete, Ctrl+X, or just type over selected text. It's a very big issue when using any macros that rely on repeatedly pasting/deleting blocks of text, such as any of the translation tools that integrate with Word via macros (Trados, Logoport). I'm using Word 2007 SP2 (and a computer fast enough to run most new games, so you'd think deleting 600 words would not be a problem...) Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Every morning, he try to create new email and insert attachment. click on the drop down menu always take long time to display the menu content. 5.Print Window takes long, long time to open
I'm using Outlook 2003 on WinXP Pro printing to network printers. On one machine, it takes a long, long time for the print window to open to choose options after typing File / Print, or Cntl + P. I have downloaded & installed all patches & updates with no changes. This is the only machine on the network with this problem, and all users experience the same problems when signed on to this machine. The users on any other machine do not have this problem. Once the window finall opens and click OK to send the job to the printer, it is fine. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions to resolve this problem? I appreciate any assistance. Thanks!
