  • 2. PID Number?
I am trying to register my Office v.10 on my Mac. The installation went fine, but when I tried to register it, I was asked for the PID (product I.D.). I tried the suggestion to look in the "Help" menu for where that is, but I found no such information. I then tried every number on the product box (none of which are listed as PIDs. Help! Which of the numbers on the box or in the literature is the PID?
  • 3. Office 2k3 CIW problems
Hi, I am trying to push out my office 2k3 installs across our network. Most machines currently have office 2k. There are a couple that don't have any office install at all. The original office installs were done using ciw and installed on a machine that we then made an image from. Since then we have got SMS server. I have now made a new CIW file for office 2k3 and can push out the office install with SMS but I am having 1 problem. In outlook, I set CIW to create a outlook address book but it doesn't install with outlook. The clients have to manually go and install the address book and then set it up in outlook as a contact folder. Is there a way to get it to default install the address book and it already setup for contacts. In Office 2k you were able to. Thanks, Chris T.

Can't install Office 2010 beta x64 after uninstalling 2010 'RTM'

Postby a29obnZpemU » Wed, 14 Apr 2010 23:05:02 GMT

I had version 14.0.4734.1000 installed (employer is partner), but it expired.
I uninstalled without any problem via the control panel, and even followed
the office 2007 manual uninstall instructions afterwards (deleting the
remaining registry keys, after checking that there were no msi packages left
to unistall, which there weren't).

The install of the beta goes without any problem, but initially every Office
application would crash upon running. The problem module being 'mso.dll'
which was left over from the RTM install and not deleted by the uninstaller.
I deleted this dll and had the beta do a repair. Now the applications start,
but the menu tabs are corrupted as well as all of the various ribbons and
menu text. For instance, there are no 'File' menus, just a tab that says
"Opening" which does nothing when clicking on it.

I uninstalled the beta and reinstalled the expired RTM. The RTM works
perfectly, but is expired.

It would seem that the RTM install makes file modifications that are not
reverted during uninstall, and these changes are not overwritten by the beta
during its installation, thus creating a kludge of beta and RTM file versions.

So, how can I cleanly remove the RTM as if it were never on my machine
(including file versions/time stamps), and install the beta and have it
function?

Thank you.

I solved the problem:

The 2010 RTM leaves a number of files, including mso.dll, in the Program
Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14 directory. I could tell by
the time stamp which showed a date in January, 2010. I dleetd all of these,
then had the beta do a repair.

All of the applications now work correctly.

2.Installing Office 2010 Beta Language Pack on 32 bit Office 2010 RT

I have installed Office 2010 RTM on a clean copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. No
other version of Office beta or otherwise has been installed since complete
disk wipe.

When I attempt to install Microsoft 2010 Beta Language Pack, I receive the
following message:

"Microsoft office 2010 does not support upgrading from a prerelease version
of Microsoft Office 2010. Please remove any pre-release products and try
again."

I have no Office products installed except Office 2010 RTM. I am trying to
install the 32 bit language pack to a 32 bit Office 2010.

How do I proceed to install additional language proofing tools - please
advise.

4.Outlook 2010 RTM x64 & Conferencing Add-in

I've uninstalled Office 2010 RC and installed Office 2010 RTM. After
installation, I went to reinstall the Conferencing Add-in and I keep getting
this message as an error, "you need 64bit outlook 2010 to use this setup."

I'm running Outlook 64bit 2010 and the conferencing add-in was already
installed prior to the upgrade. I have tried to uninstall everything,
however even with Office 2010 RTM uninstalled, I get the same error when
uninstalling the Add-in.

How can I get rid of this message and uninstall this application?
