  • 1. Registry Cleaner? - after Trial version, before retail box 2007 of
Per advice just received, I'm going to uninstall the trial office 2007 and reinstall the retail box version I've purchased, (as opposed to just trying to activate my trial with the retail product key.) I saw somewhere in this forum that a specific registry cleaner app (from MS?) should be run to get the remnants of Office removed. (I can't find the post where this was mentioned, and I think a link provided.) I wanted to do this after I uninstalled the trial version, before I installed the retail box version. I believe this was not some generic registry cleaner application, but something specific to Office. Help greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance... -- J. Raines
  • 2. Office 2007+Vista x64 RTM : Error 1310 writing to c:\config.msi\47
I have a relatively clean Vista x64 RTM (clean install, not upgrade) system with 3Gb ram & ~700Gb disk abd a dual core PD 820. I tried to install office Ultimate 2007 (default install option) only to be met with the installer failing, and raising a popup Error 1310.Error writing to file c:\config.msi\473dda.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory. I have tried running the install as administrator in standard & priviliged mode (UAC is enabled). Other progs have been installing fine. Suggestions on next step? Known issue?

  • 5. Failed to uninstall Office professional 2007 Beta
I cannot remove remnants of the Office 2007 Beta when I go to add/remove programs - the Office 2007 items are all 'MUI' files and have no change/remove button next to them. In my furstration I am going to get a full Officce 2007 professional set - but when I come to install it, will these MUI files prevent me from installing? I tried downloading the trial version but got an error message as it said first i had to uninstall the beta version. Any thoughts?

Cannot repair office 2003 installation

Postby L clayton » Sun, 23 May 2004 10:56:54 GMT

I have Office 2003 installed (from CD drive). I need to
run the detect and repair procedure or I need to remove
Office entirely and start over. If I use D/R or run the
setup.exe from the CD it now gives an error message:
1701 Invalid Drive D:\

Just for the recond, I had my hard drive partitioned into
C and D and ran out of space on C so I used
PartitionMagic 8 to move all the files, etc and to
combine the two partitions back into just one physical
drive c: So there is no D drive anymore.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to get around the drive D
problem so I can either remove/reinstall Office 2003 or
to run the detect and repair procedure?

I cannot repair my office files I keep getting errors!

2.Cannot install Office 2003 SP1 and connot repair existing Office 2

I cannot apply any patch to Microsoft Office 2003 and I cannot even run a
repair off the original upgrade CD. This is frustrating, in that I cannot
apply any security patches.

I need some assistance for this issue.

3.Need to repair an Office 2003 installation

I use Office 2003. I began to upgrade PowerPoint 2003 to PowerPoint 2007,
but canceled the operation midway through the initial phase. The progress
bar reversed direction, and after several minutes Office Setup reported that
the setup had been successfully canceled.

However, immediately afterward, and continuing forward I noted a peculiarity
in starting up the 2003 versions of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

These three programs open with the usual splash screen. But then for a
fraction of a second I see a message that Windows Installer is starting.
The message flashes then disappears, and Excel and Word load normally.

This doesn't occur with starting up Access 2003 nor Publisher 2003. I also
have OneNote 2007 installed, and it seems unaffected as well

But Outlook 2003 is worse. Starting it produces this error message.

Cannot start MS Outlook. MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version .
Please reinstall Outlook.

I assume I should run the "detect and repair", but need guidance. When I
started that service Office asked for the installation source. I assume
that means the original 2003 CD's. But of course there have been various
Office Updated over the past six years.

So please advise. It's not an emergency, since the only programs of these
which I currently use are Excel, Word and OneNote.

4.Repaired Xp installation, now can't use Office 2003

Hello all,

I just done a Windows XP repair and now I can't open any of my Office 2003
applications.
I get an error that reads
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to
terminate the application".
This happens with all of the applications. I have done an Office repair,
Office remove and replace and still get the same error. I am about to pull
that triger and solve everything. What do I do!!
