  • 1. Removal of POP3 account via PRF
Is there any way to delete a POP3 I_Mail account via PRF file import. I have tried using the Custom Maintenence Wizard and saw an option to remove Microsoft Mail and Lotus Notes services near the last few steps. We are currently migrating from POP3 to Exchange 2003 and I am trying to remove the POP3 account from Outlook and add the Exchange configuration via .prf . The exchange configuration works great but so far have been unsuccessful at removing the pop3 account. I've tried the [Service Removal] option and have tried specifying on the line below the option "POP3=" "I_MAIL=" and "MSFM=" I've also tried [Account Removal] and moved the option to section 5. Still no go. Any help is appreciated. Thanks -- scorch968
  • 2. corrupt installation source? what is this?
trying to install Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition, 2003 put in product key and get the message "Microsoft Office cannot continue setup because the installation source has been corrupted." Is this a problem with my computer, or a problem with the disc that I've purchased?
  • 3. What if I don't have a product key for office xp?
I just bought my pc and it already has office xp on it but I can't open it because it's asking for a product key. How can I open it without one or get one for free?
  • 4. Setup hangs on Student&Teacher 2003
Everytime I try to install Student&Teacher from a CD the setup hangs at the point where it says ' Writing files to registry' (the blue bar is about three quarters along its space). I have tried this several times. I have Windows XP SP2 and Microsoft Works Suite 2001 already on my system including Word 2000 SR1. When I cancel the setup, I have lost my old Word. There is also no way to uninstall the elements of S&T that have been loaded (including System Restore) except by re-installing my old Word 2000 SR1 which fortunately does then work again.
  • 5. Computer trys to install Office w/ Frontpage
Every time I startup my computer, or launch an MS Office Application, I get a message that the computer is looking for a disk with MS Office with Front Page. I don't use or want to use Front Page, but a few weeks ago, a colleague sent a file to me in this program, and I tried to open it not realizing what it was. Any way, since then my computer has tried to install the program....and I really don't want or need it. Any thoughts on how I can make this stop. Thanks!

I would start with the MSI Cleanup Tool from MS. This will nuke all registry
and data file edits.

Then you can clean up any old program files and re-install.

5.Uninstalling Office 2000 Premium Edition

We have a user who has come from out UK office to Australia with a laptop
that has Office 2000 Premium.

Typically nothing was tested and tried before the user left, they just
grabbed any laptop that was spare stuck the laptop in the bag and assummed it
would work when they needed it. Absoulutley nothing unusual about that.

Whenever he tries to run any Office applications it wants the CD so that the
component can be installed. We don't have this CD as we run Office 2000 Pro
here. He didn't bring it with him.

I want to uninstall Premium and install Pro but I also need the CD to
uninstall it.

So how do you get a copy of office off the laptop without the original cd. I
assume there must be a way otherwise how would you uninstall software that
you are not licensed for.
