I have Office Pro 2003 which I purchased separately & have used it on a couple home computers (since you can use it on up to 5). I am not sure if I used it on 4 or 5. One computer is now out of service so if possible it could be removed from that one and the usage reused on another. Is there a way to tell how many times I have used it? I need to send the software to my daughter who is in college and want to be sure there is a license remaining before I do so.

I have not been able to find on here how to disable the prompt you get when users login to any Office program for the 1st time where it wants the username and initials. Is there a GPO policy or something that can restrict this. Thanks in Advance for your help.

Hello-
For almost a week I have been trying to uninstall an evaluation version of Office 2003, which expired 3-31-04. I have also tried to install my new Office 2003 version. However, each time I get the error message-

The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed

I am not running in safe mode. How do I get the Windows Installer? How do I correctly install it? Right now, my entire Office 2003 suite is broken. HELP!

The error could be occuring if the Windows Installer service is not started
due to lack of permission.

Grant Everyone Full Control on the root directory of the boot partition,
which is the default setting when Windows 2000 is installed.

2.CANNOT UNINSTALL TRIAL VERSION OF OFFICE 2003

I used the trial version of Professional Office 2003 for
one month. I did not chose to buy a copy and went back
to my Microsoft Office 97. I tried to uninstall Word
2003 because I was having problems opening word
documents. I still have the trial version on my system
with 420.00 memory and all of the other programs from the
trial version. When I try to open up a word document
sent to me on email I get an error message that says -
cannot not open because cannot find patch. I tried to
uninstall all of 2003 and I get the same error message. I
still cannot open 2003 messages sent to me. Can someone
help?

3.cannot install office 2003 SP2, cannot uninstall office 2003

My installation of Office 2003 SP2 via Microsoft Update froze. Two hours
later I hit the cancel button, and it acknowledged that, but the cancellation
didn't seem to go anywhere. I was unable to "end task" but I could log off.
Same result with attempting to update the product from Word. I tried to
repair or uninstall via Add-or-Remove-Programs but the error message said
that another install was in progress.

Another detail: the notebook came with the office 2003 trial, but I bought
the professional upgrade. The add-or-remove-programs listing shows both a
copy of standard and the professional. I cannot remove either.

Any advice appreciated.

4.New PC - Can't uninstall office 2003 trial, therefore cannot install office 2000

AAHAHHHHHHHHRRRHHG

A brand new PC from MESH (UK). All this cr*p preinstalled that I do not
want. Try uninstalling office 2003 60 day trial through control panel.

While "Gathering required information..." is displayed, gets half way and
then nothing. Left it for a good hour, no progress.

Try then to just install Office 2000 over it (which I own and am happy with)
no joy as it tries to uninstall first.

What can I do?

PLEASE HELP!!!! I'm getting far too stressed about this.

Cheers

Dave
