  • 2. Can't install Office 2007 SP2
I downloaded the 290 MB file to manually update Office 2007 to SP2. However, when I run that huge file, it generates an error message saying "The detection falied, this can be due to a corrupted installation database." I then tried to reinstall Office 2007 from the original installation file (I bought it online and downloaded the installation file) but that failed, too. That error message read only "Setup did not complete successfully. We are sorry for the inconvenience. An error occured [sic] during the installation, and setup was unable to complete. Please tell Microsoft about the problem." I clicked "Send Error Report" and also looked at the log file that was sent. The last few lines of the log file read: Error: Type: MsiOpenDatabase call failed.. MsiAPICallFailure ErrorCode: 110(0x6e). Error: Type: MsiOpenDatabase call failed.. MsiAPICallFailure ErrorCode: 110(0x6e). Error: Type: MsiOpenDatabase call failed.. MsiAPICallFailure ErrorCode: 110(0x6e). Catalyst execution finished: 05/02/2009 12:07:31. Return code: 30050. Exception caught: MsiAPICallFailure. PERF: TickCount=32508828 Name=RunSetup Description=End function ==================================================== I am afraid to totally uninstall Office 2007, as I am afraid that I won't be able to reinstall it once it is gone. How can I get SP2 installed?
  • 3. Office 2007 registration
I reloaded my Sony Vaio computer software from the manufacturer original CDs. Now, when I open Microsoft Office, it asks me to register using the 25 digit registration code. I use the 25 digit code from the Microsoft sticker on the back of the computer and it says it is the wrong number. Any ideas? -- Jimbo
  • 4. Files only open in Viewer mode
Frequent user of Office (many years); currently using Office 2007 w/SP2 on Vista. Recently, when I try to open files from Start/Recent Items it only opens them in Viewer mode. Only way to open the full file is to first open the app (Excel, PowerPoint) and then open the file. What is causing this and how do I fix it?
  • 5. Problem when i receive email or open word
I just installed office 2007 on a vista dell machine. Whenever i receive email or try to open word it tells me to wait while microsoft office 2007 configures itself. It goes through a couple progress bars and then says "preparing to install..." and goes back to configuring for a few more progress bars. After it finishes i am able to use the programs normally until i close them. I tried reinstalling and the problem persisted. I havent seen whether the problem exists in publisher. I only installed the first disc because the second disc wont install, but one problem at a time. Thanks in advance.

MST not applying all custom settings

Postby SmVmZiBCcnlhbnQ » Sun, 14 May 2006 07:09:01 GMT

I have a volume licensed CD copied to a network share (not admin point) and I
create an MST using the wizard and when I install office using the transform
and a local installation point, it does not apply all the settings such as
custom shortcuts, registry settings, adding files, moving the custom11.prf
file, etc. It does install the base apps with their features and that is
about it. If I run maintwiz.exe and apply a CMW file, I can get the
custom11.prf file to appear for example.

1.New Exchange Server Setting Not Being Applied from MST Using C

I deleted C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\custom11.prf and it didn't try to
pull the old Exchange server.

However, I still can't get it to auto configure the Exchange e-mail in
Outlook on first-run like I had previously setup. It simply starts the new
Outlook Profile wizard.

Anyone?

2.New Exchange Server Setting Not Being Applied from MST Using CIW

Just out of curiosity, I manually reinstalled Office 2003 straight from the
SETUPPRO.EXE without using a transform file and the old Exchange server
setting was still there. Where is Outlook getting this old server from?

When I search the registry for the old Exchange server, it shows up. But
when I uninstall Office 2003, and try searching the registry again for the
old Exchange server, it does not show up.

There's something about our administrative install source files that seems
to be perpetuating this old Exchange server name, whether or not you use a
transform (MST) file. Very strange.

3.Settings in MST File not Applied

Office 2003

I have created an MST file for Office 2003 using the Custom Installation
Wizard from the Office 2003 Resource Kit. When I install Office 2003 using
the MST file, none of the custom settings in the MST file get applied. For
example, the spell-checking options, grammar-checking options, and file
locations that I configured for Word in the MST file are not being applied
to the installed application. In other words, what I am getting is the
default settings for each of the Office applications.

Also, I want to copy a custom Normal.dot file into the Templates folder, and
that's not happening either.

The MST file is in the same folder as the MSI file. I am running the
installation using the MST file and the /qb command-line switch. I do not
get any errors during the installation (although, I have not yet tried it
with the /qr command-line option).

Any ideas as to why the custom settings in the MST file are not getting
applied during installation?

Thanks for any help that you can offer.

4.Custom view error - "Some view settings could not be applied"

I cannot determine why I get this error when I try to
switch to a view I just created. There's nothing special
going on in the worksheet. It's just a list which I have
applied an Advanced Filter to, but which hides all non-
matching data. Is the Advanced Filter not compatible with
Custom Views?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

5.e-mail security settings via custom form not being applied

I have two domains and two networks that are trusted and for all intents and
purposes allow for seemless traffic flow. I can logon to domain 1 when on
domain 2's network/subnet and vica-versa, etc. The one caveat presently
being experienced is the ability to send email from a problem ticket tracking
system when connected to domain 2, logged onto domain 2, but using an
exchange account on domain 1. I get prompted to authenticate to access the
mailbox which is expected and can send messages, but the Outlook Security
Settings public form settings are not being applied - I get the two prompts
to permit the email action. With the exact same scenario, but only changing
that I'm connected on domain 1's network (still logged onto domain 2) I can
send without prompt - the form is being applied.

Any thoughts on how this could be resolved would be much appreciated.

Cheers!
