I bought a new laptop (running Vista) and am trying to install my current programs on it before I remove them from my old laptop (running XP). I'm currently using MS Office 2003 Professional edition. The disks I have are an upgrade that I purchased several years ago to upgrade from Office 97. Since I've moved recently, all my stuff is packed away in storage and I don't have access to the original Office 97 program that I purchased years ago. How can I install the Office 2003 upgrade to my new laptop without installing Office 97 first? I wrote down all the activation keys that I received from Microsoft when I installed the Office 2003 upgrade on my old computer.

Correct Version for Word 2003 Updated

Postby hselburn » Thu, 29 Sep 2005 16:10:30 GMT

Hi,

I checked on the Office 2003 SP 2 website for the correct version numbers
for Word and Excel and the version numbers were off in the last four
numbers. The version number installed is 11.6568.6568. Microsoft says it
should be 11.6568.0. The thing is, Microsoft Update and Office Update says
it is installed correctly so I'm just curious what the correct version
numbers for the updated apps are so I know that I infact do have the correct
files installed. Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks,
hselburn

Hi Hselburn,

Both versions listed are 'correct' :)

11.6568.6568 will be what displays in Help=>About in Word.
11.6568.0 is the version of the DLL file

2.Outlook Using Word As Editor - Errors Received Word Not Installed or Correct Version

When I want to write an e-mail with the word editor in
outlook I get the following error message:
"Microsoft word is set to be your e-mail editor. However,
word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same
version as outlook. The outlook e-mail editor will be
used instead. The program for the attachment may not have
been moved or deleted. Reinstall the program in which the
attachment was created".
Reinstall and repair did not help. The Word version is
the correct one and works.

Does anyone have an idea what to do?

Thanks,
Craig

3.drawings in earlier version can't see correct in word 2003

I'll try to explain my problem. I made a lot of drawings in earlier version
of Word, and now I have installed Microsoft Office 2003 with newer version of
Word.
When I open any of these drawings made in earlier version, and if I do a
slightest change in drawing, after exiting drawing all arows with thicknes
0.25 become thicker (even in properties they appear as they are 0.25). It is
visual on sscreen as well as on printed paper. If I by any chance create new
arow with thickness 0.25 in same old drawing the situation is the same. When
creating very thick arrow it stays thick in drawing and after closing drawing
as it should be. If I create a new drawing from begining in new Office I
don't have any proplems....thicknes stays as it should be. I need to make
small adjustments to all pictures and it would be very hard to do all
drawings from begining, since I have hundreds of them. Is this some kind of
bug in program and is there any solution for this problem? Thank you for your
help!

4.Get Outlook to see correct Word version.

I have Office 2002, Outlook worked fine with Word 2002. I had to install
Word 2000 also on this computer, and I put Office 2000 in its own folder.
Now, both versions of Word work properly.
However, Outlook 2002 fails to recognize Word 2002, and gives the error
message that the version of Word is incompatible with Outlook. (Outlook
works OK with its own Outlook editor.) How do I get Outlook 2002 to point to
the correct version of Word, that is, to point to Word 2002? Word 2002 is on
the machine, but Outlook can't see it. Thanks...
