I've searched this newsgroup and have yet found anyone receiving the same error as I am when trying to install the SP1 service pack to the Office 2003 Administration point (the point from which network installations are being done). The syntax that was used was: MSIEXEC /a <path-file-name of .msi file to be updated> /p <.msp patch file> SHORTFILENAMES=1 /qb The Installer comes back with an error of: Error 1914, could not schedule file <Administrative-point-path>\TBM39A.tmp to replace file <Administrative-point-path>\GDIRPLUS.DLL on reboot. Verify you have permissions to <Administrative-point-path>\GDIRPLUS.DLL I DO have permissions to the GDIRPLUS.DLL file. And what is this about scheduling a file to be replaced on reboot? On an administrative file update? Never ran into this type of problem when doing updates to Office 2000 administrative points, so this is a surprise to me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TaurArian, I tried everything but didn't succeed.

Now I download SP3 for office2003 from "microsoft download center" which was
suggested to me as I use firefox.

But automatic update doesn't work, microsoft update doesn't appear on the
start menu, win upd (from the start menu) allways says: everything OK.

Try the following:-

Open the Vista Start Menu search Bar and type: RUN

Click OK

Type the following lines and after each one click OK:-

regsvr32 jscript

regsvr32 vbscript

regsvr32 /i mshtml

No guarantees

Windows Update on the start menu is okay - from memory it doesn't change to
Microsoft Update.

may thanks, Taurarian

here is how I proceeded with your advice

regsvr32 jscript>>>>jscript is loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer got
error 0x80004005
regsvr32 vbscript>>>vbscript etc... same error
regsvr32 /i mshtml>>>mshtml is loaded but the entry to DllRegServer was not
found. make sure mshtml is a valid dll or ocx-file and retry

searching for that error I got the internet advice to go to start/all
programs/ accessories/command prompt/(right click)"run as an administartor"

I did all this and now the first pair of commands worked perfectly, but the
error on mshtlm persisted

many thanks for the anwers, but what now? windows update still tells me
everything is all-right.

what about mshtml???

many thanks for your ideas and patience!!

I removed it, and it had been updated. This was also the case with my
desktop (xp home) and there ms update works fine.

ddendum:

I downloaded SP3 from downloadcenter and installing it (or trying to) I
received the message that it allready had been installed... I suppose this is
a contamination with the previous version....

3.outlook 2003 actions not updated in office when done remotely & vice versa

Hi All,

I have seen vague references to this problem but couldn't find what I
am looking for...

We have Outlook 2003 at the office running in Cached Exchange Mode and
Exchange Server 2003. I also have a number of users connecting to
Outlook through our Terminal Server (Remote Desktop connection not
RPC).

The problem is - I've had a couple of users complain that when they
make a change (say, mark an item as unread) remotely, that change has
not been updated at the office the next day. I invoked the Send/Receive
and this worked for one item - but the problem seems to occur
periodically. I have now also had a user say that this happens the
other way round - office to home does not update correctly.

History: The main reason we upgraded from 2000 to 2003 on the Terminal
Server was because users were experiencing problems such as losing
views and settings when they did something remotely, even if they made
no such changes.

Is this a Cached Exch M problem? This option is greyed out on the
Terminal Server Outlook for security I presume.

Thanks in advance ppl!
