I upgraded to 2003 and now my FILE OPEN locks up and I can't seem to get past it. The system locks up and I have to exit. I can only open a file through my regular EXPLORER system tool. This is only a problem in my microsoft applications. What do you think
  • 2. What is wrong with Office Update? Is it me or the site?
On the Downloads page and after clicking on the button to see what updates I need, I see the second banner image which apparently means that I have ActiveX installed, However I cannot find the pull down menu to install the ActiveX Update Engine, what do I do now? Has anyone else had this problem? Today I completely re-formated my hard disk and re-installed Me and then did all the Windows and IE security updates. Then I did a Typical installation of Office 2000 Pro. Now I need to update and secure Office but cannot proceed because I do not see the pull-down menus that Microsoft says I should see. Help me please!
  • 3. Updates Continue Failing
I keep getting notified of updates, but the updates won't install. If I don't install them I continue to be notified. Cannot the latest updates be patched so that they'll work? Does the system have to continue to notify for failed updates? (The corporate version of Office I have is installed on two separate machines (legally). Neither machine will accept the updates. Thanks for any tips. John

What is ActiveX and must I install it to get Office updates? If so, can it be managed so that it is not there for anyone else? I am confused by the Microsoft website.
