  • 1. Update site wrong?
Hello Group: I hate to add to the many posts regarding problems with updating MS Office, but I'd really appreciate some advice on this issue. I have MS Office 2003 Small Business Edition. This was purchased OEM when I put together a computer. I made some changes in the hardware, but boot drive is the same as when I installed the program. I went to the website to update and after running their analysis, the site recommended updates to Word, Excel, Outlook, and PPT. Each had a check mark in its own box. I attempted to download and install, and everything seemed to go fine. They did not ask me for the CD. But I got an "installation unsuccessful" message. I tried a few more times, then went through that laborious search of the registry in the uninstall folder, found my GUID, then went back to the key in SourceEngine\Downloads. I modified the key accordingly, but it still would not work. Then I realized that the downloads they advised me to get were all "0" size. So I am mystified that MS would tell me I needed updates, go through the motions of download and install for a 0kb file, and then lead me on a wild goose chase to try to correct the problem. Any thoughts? How can I be sure I don't have any needed updates? Many thanks. Jack

How Do I Find Outlook Hotfix 228512

Postby SWFu » Wed, 13 Oct 2004 01:55:05 GMT

I am getting a popup when installing microsoft CRM that says I require the
Microsoft Outlook 2000 Post-SP3 Hotfix 228512 which is available at
www.microsoft.com/downloads.

I cannot find it at this site. I have installed Office SP3, I have used the
check for updates link at office.microsoft.com and have had no luck in
finding this hotfix.

I have used the whole site search as well as individual product search to no
avail.

Any suggestions on finding this>

Thanks

2.Download of Hotfix Outlook 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix 9-27-04

I would like to download Outlook 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package:
September 27, 2004 however for some reason there are no longer links to the
hotfixes but rather links to the support page.

I'm having the problem described where I try to send encryped email and I
get the message that outlook can't find the certs or there are unsupported
compatabilities. Sometimes it works but a lot of the time it doesn't.

I'm using Outlook 2003 connected to an exchange server.

3.hotfix # Q816074 Where can I find information

In my search on this newgroup I have found an answer to
the problem that Windows XP opens word documents write
protected even if they are NOT write protected.
The answer said the person needed hotfix # Q816074
I can finde nowhere on microsoft homepages any
information about this.
Does anyone know where microsoft has described this
problem.
It seems strange that no matter where or what I have used
in my search absolutely nothing turns up about this
anywhere on microsoft support homepage

4.Where to find Hotfix 829348?

Been going in circles thru Microsoft KB articles. Finally found the
hotfix that will address this problem:

If you lock cells in an Excel 2002 workbook by using a
Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro, and then
save and close the workbook, you can click to select a locked
cell after you reopen the workbook.

I've been living with this slightly irritating problem for a while,
have an auto_open macro when it's important, but I figured I'd apply
the hotfix to see if it helps.

Only problem is that I can't find it to download. Any idea where to
look?

TIA,

Andy
