Office update tells download Office 2000 upgrade for Office 2003

Postby aGtpcG9k » Mon, 19 Dec 2005 10:27:02 GMT

When I go to the update site and check for required upgrades, I am asked to
install upgrades that are specifically designated for Office 2000 although I
am using Office 2003!

Office Update offers updates for Office programs that you do not have installed

1.Upgrade to Office 2003 from Office 97 - was from Office 95 to Office 2000

Milly (or Others),
Will the procedure you list below work for an upgrade from Office 97 to
Office 2003? Here's my situation. I have new Win97 computer networked to my
old Win95 computer w/ working copy of Office 97. I also have an almost
complete copy of my Win95 C:drive on my Win97 H: partition. I have both CD
and DVD (which reads CDs) on Win97. I have the Upgrade Version of Office
2003 Pro. I know that if I install my old Office 97 on the WinXP, the
upgrade will work. I'd like not to do that. I'm not sure if the install
program might "accept" the Office 97 thru the network (mapped as P drive) or
via the H:\Win95copy\win95c\etc. I plan to launch the update from my E: CD
R/W. Would it be a good idea to put in my Office97 disk into the D: DVD CD
Rom (making sure to cancel the autostart that would try and setup Office97)?

If none of the above will work, let me see if I have the procedure that you
describe below correct: The Upgrade will say something like "can't find
qualifying product.." and at that point I take out my Office 2003 disk and
replace it with my Office 97 disk, then type something, and then replace the
Office 2003 Disk. BTW, I plan to do the COMPLETE installation of Office 03
Pro, but at this time I don't think I'll install the 2nd disk which has the
Business Contact Manager for MS Outlook, unless this is the only time to do
it. (I do maintain a large sking mail list, but not sure if the Cont. Mgr
will help that much.)

3.Upgrading from Office 2000 Pro to Office 2003 SMB

My question is about upgrading from a Professional version of Office to a
Small Business Edition. I currently have Office 2000 Pro on my computer,
including all programs, such as Access and PowerPoint.

Question: If I upgrade using Office 2003 SMB, which does nto have Access,
will my version of Access 2000 still remain operational on my system, with
only Excel, Outlook, and Word upgrading to the 2003 version?

4.Office update detects update for Office XP and I have office 2000

Office update detects update for Office XP and I have office 2000 as well as
XP as the OS.

What Office XP components might it be detecting? I updated Outlook from the
distribution CD as part of installation of ActiveSynch 3.7.1 for my Dell AXIM
X50v PDA.

Are there any problems applying the Office XP updates in this circumstance
as I have only Offfice 2000 components installed and in use?

5.update with Office 97 upgraded to Office 2000

I have Office 97 Professional with the Upgrade edition of Office 2000
Professional. I cannot update because the upgrader cannot find the ms? file
on either of the Office 2000 CDs. What am I doing wrong? I vaguely remember
this problem in the past and never did find the answer.

Thank you.
