I am unable to check for updates for my Office 2000 running on Win 98. I receive a message that some .mSP files are missing, but not sure which .msp files are missing. I found 15 .msp files under the /Installer/ directory.

  • 3. Fast Start in XP **************************************
This is a multi-part message in MIME format. Normally Word 2003 will start instantaneously ....... After cleaning the Registry it will take forever to start Word 2003. By using system restore I am able to revert back to the original fast start. Does anyone know why cleaning the Registry is causing this? <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1"> <title></title> </head> <body text="#000000" bgcolor="#ffffff"> <font size="+1">Normally Word 2003 will start instantaneously ....... • 4. Full file download Office XP
I'm trying to update office XP but I do not have the CD. I thought I could just download the full file and be done with it but it still requires the CD. Any advice? Also could someone tell microsoft that thier download site/server works about as well as a new version of Micorsoft OS. (Which means very poorly) Thanks
  • 5. I can't update my office
I get the following error when I try to run the "product update" on the Office Update website. I am running a Windows 2000 Advance Server in Application Terminal Service mode. The Office Update site is unable to check for updates on this computer. This may be happening because of one of the following reasons: You do not have administrative privileges for this computer. There is a network problem and the detection catalog used by the Office Update site failed to download. Go back to the Downloads home page and try running detection again. Windows Installer patch files (.MSP files) from previously applied Office updates are missing from the \Windows\Installer hidden directory on your computer. MSP files are stored on your computer after update installation completes because they need to be referenced for future update operations. If the files are missing you will not be able to apply Office updates. You may also be unable to uninstall Office products as a result of the same problem. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for assistance. You installed Office updates in the past and then upgraded from Windows Installer version 1.0 to Windows Installer version 1.1. For more information see the KB article Windows Installer May Prompt for Install Source if Unavailable.

Office 2000 SP1 update crashes on XP

Postby mmc071 » Sun, 14 Sep 2003 21:16:29 GMT

Bought a new hard-disk this week and installed XP and SP1
and all critical fixes.

Have installed Office 2000, gone to Office Update site and
when i try to install Office 2000 SP1 it hangs half way
through the process. Reboot, try again, and this time the
update reboots my machine (crash) halfway through the
update.

Why????

Office update detects update for Office XP and I have office 2000 as well as
XP as the OS.

What Office XP components might it be detecting? I updated Outlook from the
distribution CD as part of installation of ActiveSynch 3.7.1 for my Dell AXIM
X50v PDA.

Are there any problems applying the Office XP updates in this circumstance
as I have only Offfice 2000 components installed and in use?

3.Word v.X With embeded Excel charts from Win Office 2000/XP crashes every time

I have a cross platform office. I am running diffrent versions of MS
Office, Including v.X, 2004 mac, Office 2000 and XP for PC. Whenever
my users get a file from the PC side with embded Excel charts it just
shuts down office. In 2004 it opens with no problem. i have re created
this with multiple files over diffrent machines and every time it is
the same. I have opened the file in 2004 and deleted the Excel data
resaved it but when opened in v.X it stil lcrashes. when i jsut copy
all the info minus the excel charts to a new doc it opens. Once i re
add any Excel data back comes the crashes.

System versions 10.2.8 / 10.3.4 / 10.3.5

Anyone else run into this?

4.Office Update failure, fresh Office 2000 install on XP Home

I just installed Office 2000 Small Business on a brand new Win XP Home
machine, and then I ran Office Update. It successfully installed SR-3 along
with a number of other updates, but there are eight updates which download
but fail when they try to install. They do not call for a CD, which in any
case I have should I need them. I've tried restarting, turning off
anti-virus software, and installing each update individually, all to no
avail. Any ideas on what to try next? I remember a problem like this years
ago, and the solution was to get hold of the update file directly and install
it via another mechanism, but I don't recall what that was.

The offending updates are:
KB921593
KB925524
KB929062
KB929139
KB873380
KB920822
KB914797
KB905646

Thanks,
Scott

5.Is it necessary to install Office 2000 update if I have Office XP.

After I download all the updates, the Install program asks for something from
the Office 2000 CD. Since I don't have that (I only have the XP Version) I
get stuck. If I manually download the full version of the program, it asks
where I want to INSTALL the file. I have no idea where to put it. Can
anyone help?
Thank you!
