Following installation of Office 2003 (leaving a previous version of Office 2000 intact) I cannot check or apply any updates. I reach a screen headed "Error Unable to check for updates on this computer". The error message goes on to suggest I may not have administrative priviledges (I do), that there may be a network problem (there is not) or there may be missing .MSP files (they appear to be where they should be). Suggestions appreciated.

I cannot update my Office simply because for some reason the "Download the Microsoft Office Genuine Validation Active X Control for Office Online" fails to install. How can I correct this?
  • 3. REQUIRED UPDATES not installing.
I keep getting Installation Unsuccessful! Not sure why? I did a search for each download, and repeatedly here is what I found: The download you requested is unavailable. If you continue to see this message when trying to access this download, go to the "Search for a Download" area on the Download Center home page. REQUIRED UPDATES are: Security Update for Office 2007 (KB934062) , Security Update for Word 2000 (KB934392) , Security Update for Excel 2000 (KB934447) , Security Update for Office 2000 (KB934526)

Postby Sm9lTA » Mon, 17 Sep 2007 02:32:00 GMT

I have MS Office 2007 and in the envelope program it does not have the zip
code scan bar on the envelope.
How can this be done?

You can't simply check the barcode box in the Envelope dialog anymore,
but you can still manually insert the { BARCODE } field on your
envelope. Note that Word's postal barcodes do not comply with current
USPS regulations. See http://www.**--****.com/ "The
POSTNET bar code that Word generates no longer qualifies for USPS bulk
mailing discounts" for more information.

1.?Envelope Zip Code Bar Code?

WOW... what a very RUDE awakening! I've "upgraded" from 2000 to 2007 and I
am totally LOST...

In 2000 I was able to add the bar code to my envelopes... I don't see this
option in 2007, nor can I find any help on this...

What are the steps?

I'll be adding more comments/questions about my transition from 2000 to

2.Zip Code Bar Codes in Word 2007

Why are the Zip Code Bar Codes now missing from Word 2007? There is
absolutely no way to do add these to an envelope now and having this feature
in the past was great because it actually helps the mail be delivered
quicker! Why did Microsoft take it away?!!!

Is there any way to add it to a Word 2007 document now?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

3.Enter Zip Code results in Bar Code

In WordPerfect there is a feature where you can enter a zip code and it will
insert a bar code. You can be in any kind of document. In Word (2003) I
know how to get a bar code directly on an envelope or label through that
feature but can Word be automated to accept a zip code and insert the
appropriate bar code at the cursor in any document?

How do I go about finding the bar code methods and properties?

Thanks for any help, and as always your time is greatly appreciated.

4.Why do zip codes w/ leading zeros disappear when doing mail merge

I use excel which contains zipcodes that begin with zero. When I merge the
spreadsheet for letters and labels, the zeros disappear (I get a four diget
zipcode instead of five).

I formated the column as a zip code, but it still doesn't work.
