  • 1. How do I fix Office update?
I recently reloaded my notebook with all new OS (XP PRO), and software (Office 2003 including Frontpage 2003). Everything seems to run fine. I have run Windows Update and it worked fine. But... If I try to run Office Update, I get an error: "Office Update is unable to check for updates" . It gives a list of possible reasons. Given the current conditions here, none of them sound logical to me for this setup... Anybody got any thoughts?
  • 2. Update issues after upgrade
One of the pc's at my office had a most likely pirated version of Microsoft Office XP Professional with Frontpage (for which we have no disk). It was never able to receive upgrades due to a missing proplus.msi file. I made my boss buy a new fully legal complete version of Office Pro 2003. I installed it on the pc as a complete install, not as an upgrade. When I went to the office family update site, I still got a message asking for the Microsoft Office XP Pro with Frontpage disk. Any thoughts or suggestions on what I should be doing differently?

  • 5. I am missing WINNT/system32/msiexec.exe? What do I do?
I am trying to upgrade my current MS Office Pro 2000 to MS Office Pro 2003 when I run the program a window pops up with a message that it cannot load my upgrade because C:/WINNT/system32/msiexec.exe is missing?? I had Panda Titanium Virus protection loaded onto my computer a couple of weeks ago. Would that have erased this file the new MS Office Pro is searching for?? Where do I go to get this file back?

I am running Office 2000. Today's required updates included an update for
Office 2003. Obviously it would not install.

Probably because you have a Office 2003 viewer installed. You can either hide the
update or let it download. It will not cause any issues

Office update detects update for Office XP and I have office 2000 as well as
XP as the OS.

What Office XP components might it be detecting? I updated Outlook from the
distribution CD as part of installation of ActiveSynch 3.7.1 for my Dell AXIM
X50v PDA.

Are there any problems applying the Office XP updates in this circumstance
as I have only Offfice 2000 components installed and in use?

my security software says I need MS Office updates. When I check for

When I try to use office update it incorrectly identifies

5.Office 2000 Premium - Which Updates required??

I've just installed Office 2000 on Windows XP Home (OEM), and received SP3
for Office 2000, which I thought, wrongly, included SP1a and SR2. Can you
please let me know exactly which updates are required to bring it up to SP3?
Office Updates, I guess, does not function because of Win XP.
