I have Microsoft Office XP on my system. I entered the microsoft site for updating Office. I downloaded Service Pack -1 for Microsoft Office XP. As the Pack was installing, an error message appeared, showing: Error 1328. Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PT4B2.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. And when I try to ignore SP-1 and try to download other updates, they won't download, because 'SP-1 should be downloaded first'. Is there a solution to this dilemma. Thanks for your help.

I have finally managed to upgrade O2k to Sp3 after months of frustration. I had initially failed to even download from the Office Download Centre but eventually put the upgrade on my desktop via the 'manual' method. Any attempt to install was killed with a message that told me that 'the update cannot be applied'. Bob Buckland pointed me in the right direction ie repair the o2ksr-1 CD, and after using the Installer Clean-up as well, it's done at last. For the many, many o2k users desparate to upgrade, try it my way!

How to Install ServicePack 2 for Office XP MultiLanguage?

Postby Rolf Loewenthal » Fri, 12 Sep 2003 18:34:53 GMT

Hi all,

we have an installation of Office XP Multilanguage
(English, German, French). What have I to do to install
ServicePack 2?

Install all three versions one after the other?

Or does the English Version be enough?

Thanks to all

Rolf

1.Office 2003 Pro ServicePacks install fails after XP SP3 install

I am having the same problem. On a new PC with Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3
installed and a new install of Office 2007 Professional none of the updates
or Service Packs for Office 2007 will install. So far there are 10 or 11
updates. They download but will not install.

2.Office XP Multilanguage with SP3 multilanguage

Hello,

I have installed Office XP multilanguage on my computer with the following
languages: English, German, French, Dutch and Polish.
The first our languages everything is translated (Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Access and Outlook). When I select Polish only the following programs are
translated: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access. The Outlook application
appears in English.
Why isn't this changed to Polish as well? And can I change it manually
perhaps?

Regards,

Marc

3.Office 2003 Pro ServicePacks install fails after XP SP3 instal

Here is the temporary solution to the inability of Microsoft Update or
Automatic Updates installation failure of updates.

Solution: See KB946691

1. Download and Install KB946691

2. Manually Download and install the Office 2007 Service Pack 1 Update

3. Reboot the system

4. Manually download and install individually the remaining updates
KB931906, KB946983, KB947801, KB946974, KB950114, KB950378, KB950113,
KB951808.

5. After downloading and installing all the above reboot the system.

If you now run Microsoft Update you will now see that there are no more
additional updates to be installed.

You can also look at the Windows Control Panel / Add Programs -- System
Updates
and see that they have been installed.

6. This does not solve the problem of why Microsoft Update or Automatic
Updates for Office after installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 or when running
under Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 does not allow installation updates to
complete.

But it does at least allow one to install the updates manually and proceed
with the use of their Office 2003 and Window System.

4.How to install Multilanguage Pack under Office XP

5.Office 2003 Pro ServicePacks after XP SP3

Hi Guys,
I have Office 2003 Pro for ages.
A week after installing XP SP3 the notification came about Office SP3.
Installation of all 6 patches failed including Word viewer 2003 (SP1)
No reasons were given.
After several attempts to install including standalone SP3 failed.
I disabled notifications coming back.
Then SP2 notification came (9 patches) - failed - disabled
SP1 (5 patches) - failed - disabled
now very old patches are coming one by one.

First of all why? I was pretty sure I had sp2 installed.
And what can be done if I don't have the CD? Office was preinstalled when PC
was purchased > 4 years ago

Thanks in advance
