  • 1. How to establish Internet connection through PC?
I've got a new Tungsten T3; since it came with Web Pro, I thought it would be interesting to connect to the Internet by going through my PC. The basic setup is the Palm sitting in the standard cradle, plugged into a USB port on a PC running Windows XP (Home edition, SP1). I've tried defining a connection (through Prefs) specifying "PC" and "Local network", but either way, it seems to be trying to establish a PPP connection, and ultimate errors out with a PPP timeout. (Somehow I don't think changing from PPP to SLIP is the answer.) I have the feeling that I'm overlooking something very simple, although I'm not sure whether it's on the Palm side or the desktop side. (I did read through the Palm manuals and checked their knowledge base, but didn't find anything relevant.) Is this even possible, and if so, what else do I need to configure? Thanks, Tom
  • 2. Narrowed problem down: she chose Outlook as contacts, how do I change to Palm Desktop?
In follow up to my earlier post about data not syncing, I noticed that in her hotsyc setup, it had '(outlook)" next to contacts, calendar, etc. so I assume that since there is nothing in Outlook, that is why it is not syncing anything. Is that right? If so, how do I change it? Also, I can't get the hotsync options to stick on "synchronize", even when I click to make it the default. It keeps changing back to "do nothing".

Treo 650 Synch With Outlook And Time Zones

Postby Rich » Sat, 10 Sep 2005 07:07:20 GMT

I am having problems with the automatic handling of time zones between
appointments I create in Outlook and where they reside in the datebook
on the Treo. I have verified the settings in the condiut are correct,
however, the times are always entered 1 hour earlier in the Treo than
in Outlook. I have the Daylight savings option checked in Outlook and
am wondering if this might be a possible source for the problem.

Any advice or resource would be appreciated. Thanks.

IIRC a known bug reported somewhere. Can't remember where though, and may
have been fixed with the firmware updates???

1.Treo 650 synching with Outlook 2007

Can anyone help me - what are some possible reasons why my Treo 650 will not

2.treo 650 and synching with Outlook

My boss has a treo 650 and has been succesfully synching with Outlook. We use
SBS exchange.

Of late, he's started adding new categories to his outlook contacts. When he
adds a new category and re-synchs, the new category designation doesn't show
up for that contact.

He then goes to the Treo and adds the new category to the contact and then
synchs back to the office and it still doesn't show up.

Any suggestions on how to get the synching to work in both directions when
adding new categories to the master category, and then when assigning those
categories to specific contacts?

3.leave message as marked unread after synch with treo 650

Messages downloaded to Treo appear marked as read in outlook 2003. Can you
set outlook so that they are not marked unread until opened in outlook?

4.Outlook Treo 650 Palm HotSync OLERR lookup table

Where do I get advice on what these Outlook to Palm synchronize errors
indicate?
Are they indicating errors in Outlook (which works) or the PDA (which
won't sync)?

HotSync operation started for donna on 12/21/05 19:54:07
Outlook Calendar
OLERR:03-0033
OLERR:03-000E
OLERR:0D-000E
OLERR:0D-0004
OLERR:0D-0001
- Recovery Sync
Outlook Calendar synchronization failed
OLERR:15-0002
OLERR:06-0001

These were cut directly out of the PalmSource Outlook conduit HotSync
6.0.1 file:
C:\palm\treo650\donna\HotSyncLog.htm

The really frustrating thing about these messages is the hotsync used
to work on this new Verizon Treo650 Palm PDA cellphone and then stopped
all of a sudden. No matter how many times I reboot the Windows XP PC,
the PalmSource HotSync Manager 6.0.1 has been failing for more than a
week with these cryptic error codes above.

Is there a lookup table for these error codes?
Are they indicating Outlook errors (Outlook seems to work just fine) or
errors in the Palm PDA (which seems to work fine also)? It's just the
synchronization between the two that is failing. Contacts synchronize
just fine via the Treo 650 USB cable but the Outlook Calendar fails
every time (it used to work and I don't remember changing anything to
break it).

When I googled, I found someone suggested deleting the entire Outlook
profiles directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
which didn't seem to solve the problem at all (I think I got even more
error codes when I pressed the HotSync button on the Treo 650 USB cable
but I don't remember because I didn't save the original set before
deleting the profiles directory).

The Outlook profiles directory reappeared with Outlook 2003 (which
seems to work fine throughout), and it re-created the following files:
donna_Outlook_profile.FAV 26 KB
donna_Outlook_profile.NK2 0KB
donna_Outlook_profile.srs 3KB

Do you know what these Outlook conduit Palm syncronize errors mean?

5.Treo 650 Outlook 2003 sync, datebook functions

A couple questions for you experts out there.
1. Anyone else having trouble syncing with Outlook 2003? Does PalmOne
have a plan to fix this?
2. Has anyone figured out a way to set the defaults on the datbook
function to allow "alarm on" to be set as a default for a datebook
event? (Treo 600 did this.)
3. Has anyone figured out what happened to the "Journal" function that
was present on the Treo600?
4. Or the "template" function that was a function on the Treo 600
also?
5. And has anyone figured out how to set the "default event length" to
0? (Treo 600 did this.)

It seems to me that PalmOne rushed this phone out to the market before
it was ready to go and they may have cut out a number of useful
features also. (At least to me they were useful.) The memory problem
is inexcusable also and further evidence that this phone while
thoughtful and innovative has some very sloppy and unfinished elements
as well. Anyone have answers to the above questions or the general
statement please let say so...

Thanks,
Chet Shannon
