  • 1. New User ...
Have just ordered an X3i, which should get in a wekk or so. I'm mainly looking to collect my email on it, and wonder whether I should tidy up Outlook. i know, I shouldn't really have 600 messages in my inbox, but just haven't got around to filing them ;) In fact, I'm thinking of setting up a second MSN messenger address e.g. XXXX@XXXXX.COM . Also, then I could maybe just use that email address just for my handheld. Not sure whether that is a workable solution with AutoSync and Outlook etc ... Hopefully, it'll also limit the amount of spam I get.
  • 2. Complete remove mail data, now that no longer sync'ing?
I no longer want to sync'd email with my PPC. I've de-selected Email in ActiveSync and mail no longer synchronizes with my PPC; however, the original messages are still on my PPC taking up space. How can I remove this data?
  • 3. Read hotmail offline ipac ???
How would I go about reading my hotmail offline after being online at home via my Wi-Fi or being plugged into my pc/sync/cradle???? I am trying to avoid opening each email and saving it! Also can I write emails offline in hotmail and have them sent automatically when I sync with my pc?? Any and all help appreciated. Paul Arey
  • 4. Password keepers and "Smart Minimize"
Appstudio (appstudio.com) makes a software product called PassKey, which stores account info in an encrypted format. A password is required to open the program. I think there is a huge security flaw in the software: When I exit the program with File/Exit it closes properly. When I restart it, I am prompted for the password to access the encrypted info. HOWEVER, if close PassKey with the "X" (now known as the "smart minimize" button, Pocket PC 4.2), I am NOT prompted for the access password, the program just pops up out of sleep mode or whatever. Restarting the PDA (Dell Axim) does not cause PassKey to demand a password. Soft reset does. Has anyone else run into this problem (I guess Micro$oft considers this a "feature"). I know, there is "strong" password protection available in the PDA OS. But the PassKey password is another level of security.

Hi,

Windows CE 3 is the core "environment" for PocketPC 2002 Operating System.
Basically Jornada 567 is working on PocketPC 2002, but at times Boxes refer
to the Core environment. In both cases the answer is right.

Hello,

Online i see plans for many Pocket PCs, but not the 567/568 . I
figure everything is the same except for the plug. Does anyone know
where to get the plug, or would i have to build that as well? Thanks

3.Jornada 567 on toast

I bought a second hand Jornada 567 on eBay, mainly so I could test that my
software is compatible with the Pocket PC 2002 platform.

When it arrived it had clearly never been used. I downloaded all the
relevant upgrades from the HP site, and applied them in the prescribed
order. The result was that my 567 got fried on the EUU3 upgrade.

I searched the internet, and it seems that some Linux types have
experimented with the 567. I have managed to get the bootloader to start,
but that is about it. The bootloader looks like it ought to do something,
but it is completely undocumented.

The Linux guys have what they claim is a WinCE image on their site, but the
only person who s to has tried to use it says that it took out his
bootloader, and that his 567 now burnt to a crip.

Has anyone ever managed to recover a 567 in this way? I am not interested in
running Linux on it - I am a PocketPC developer.

P.S. Sorry about the cross-post - I posted to the wrong NG.

4.can't sync jornada 567 with outlook anymore

I was at one time able to sync with my computer and load
my outlook files, address book, etc. Just got a new
computer... Installed active sync 3.7 and the drivers and
firmware for the jornada and can't sync theoutlook
files. it just freezes. I can connect and explore the
cf storage card but can't sync the addresses..
