  • 1. Playing .wma files on Pocket PC Windows Media Player 9
I am copying/converting music files from a CD that I own using Windows Media Player on my desktop PC. I have tools/options/devices/properties/quality set with "convert files as required by this device" as I have been advised to by Clinton. However, when I try to play the file on my HP hx48705 I get the message "Windows Media Player cannot play this file because the requried codec is not installed." As I have been advised by Clinton and on the Microsoft website, I have been careful to make certain that copy protection is not set on files ripped to my desktop PC on Media Player 10 before attempting conversion to Windows Media Player 9 on my Pocket PC. I do notice that under tools/options/devices/Pocket PC/properties/currently supported devices, that my hx4705 is not listed. Rather, I am taken to a Microsoft website page called "cool devices" that lists many dozens of supported devices, including the following HP Pocket PCs: iPAQ h1940, h1945, h2210, h2215, h4150, h4155, h4350, and h4355. HOWEVER, MY HX4705 IS NOT LISTED. HELP! HELP! HELP! It looks to me like there is a hardware problem with playing .wma files on my hx4705 with Windows Media Player 9 for Pocket PC. Should I look for a third party piece of software that will not get involved with this Microsoft WMP10/WMP9 conversion business? Right now, the Microsoft "Plays for Sure" ad campaign leaves me feeling cynical. Thanks Much!
  • 2. Need a progra, to view pictures in full screen.
Is there a program that allows me to see images on full screen? All I want is to be able to view the images. (I don't want to have a Powerpoint slide viewer for example.) Thanks. OM
  • 3. iPAQ 2210 power on by itself (again)
This question has been asked more than once in this group but I still haven't found an answer. The problem is that sometimes I find my iPAQ turned on in the morning. All sync schedules are set to "Manual" except for the Desktop Schedule that is set to "On connection" so it should not power on for that. And besides, the only thing set up to synchronize is the clock. Since I cannot find a pattern for this I guess it has to do with something that the iPAQ only do once in a while. Any ideas? The iPAQ Backup schedule is NOT enabled. /Magnus
  • 4. Cannot Clear Pocket Outlook
I am using Windows Mobile 2003 SE. I originally had my pocket PC to sync with outlook, however I have decieded that some company emails I don't want hanging around. I deselected "Inbox" from Activesync, however the emails are still in the pocket pc messaging application, as well as my folders... How do I clear this information? the "clear outlook email" option is greyed out. Thanks! B

How can Pocket Explorer be configured to display chinese
characters?

Would like to put emergency addresses, hotel information,

properly on laptop.

Thanks,

You should be able to install a Chinese truetype font and make your webpages
in UTF-8 code page.

Or you can use one of the following third party Chinese platforms:
Monster Chinese (www.mactiontech.com),
PocketKnife (www.gismosoft.com), or CE-Star (www.mobem.com).

3.Problem on displaying Chinese characters

I'm a newbie in pocket PC application development. I'm trying to do a
Simplified Chinese application for a pocket pc. But I couldn't display
Chinese character correctly. The development tools I used are:

eVC++4.0 + SP3
Windows Mobile 2003 SDK for pocket PC
Emulator images for pocket PC (Simplified Chinese)

I tried to display a constant string _T("") in an edit control and type
some Chinese in a label of a dialog box but neither of them works. But
Chinese characters can be displayed correctly in the edit control if I type
it in run time. What is the cause of the problem?

Thank you for your kind attention.

Regards,
Fingle
