  • 1. Synchronizaion error
I'm trying to sync with my desktop I get the error message stated in "subject". I have a QTEK 2020 and MS active Sync 3.8 Outlook 2002. The PPC is connected so software installations are OK. -- Guinness of Sweden
  • 2. can not select inbox for synchronization in ActiveSync options
I can not select inbox for synchronization in ActiveSync options. Using Outlook 2003, Activesync 3.8, Imate JAM. There is only one sync partner on both, PC and mobile device. Before connection with the mobile device the square to the left of Inbox in Activesync options is visible and I am able to check it. However, when I connect the mobile device to synchronize again, the check box disappears and my Inbox would not synchronize. Calendar, contacts etc do synchronize correctly though. Already tried to: 1. delete the activesync partnership from the PC and created a new partnership. 2. reinstalled activesync The problem stays. Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

Activesync 4.5, Outlook 2007 not syncing, says not installed

Postby S2V2aW4gS28 » Mon, 22 Oct 2007 03:03:00 GMT

Others seem to have had the same problem, yet I can't find a solution. I am
running a Thinkpad R50e, XP Pro SP2, Office 2007, and Activesync 4.5 and Axim
X3i. I use this at home and at work but not connected to my work domain in
any way. Until I upgraded to Office 2007 everything was fine. Using the
office2007 pre-release it was fine. Once we purchased the new licenses and
reinstalled, Activesync would say Outlook was not installed.

I have tried everything - uninstall AS, uninstall Office - and then
reinstall. I've wiped my Axim and reinstalled.

Anything to do with outlook no longer works - contacts, tasks, calendar
etc... if I unselect all those items I can sync (ie: Audible and AvantGo,
backup file transfers etc...)

I've also tried fixmapi as suggested elsewhere. No luck.

Is there a manual way I can link the PPC to Outlook and sync? everything is
installed in default directories as well. There must be a registry key
somewhere that is pointing to the wrong location for Outlook. HELP?!?

Kevin,

try creating a new account on your PC and logon using that account.
Run Outlook on your PC and close it. Connect your device and see if it
syncs. If it does, disconnect, logoff and logon with your account.
Connect the device again.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try it. When you say create a new account
on my PC, I assume you mean a new logon account on my PC and not a
partnership for that PPC. I will post my results, good or bad.

finally found somewhere to do a repair on the office 2007 and now mine syncs.

I put the office cd in and clicked on repair and let it go through the repair
process and then did a restart. When I plugged in my phone it worked.

I have since migrated to a brand new computer - running the same software but
it works now. I'll never know why it didn't work, but it seems to be related
to the fact that I upgraded from Office XP to Office 2007.

Thanks for your help.

My CD is Office 2003, my Outlook is 2007 supplied via download from my ISP
with my Exchange subscription.

I think I tried that, but will try again.

2.Activesync 4.5 wth Outlook 2007 and XP, not syncing properly

Hopefully someone can help with this issue. I have Windows XP with Outlook
2007 and Activesync 4.5 running. When I change something in Outlook 2007 on
the computer, it does not change on the device, for instance checking off a
task on the computer does not check of the task on the device, but checking
off the task on the device does check it off also on the computer. The big
hassle is with contacts, which I keep accurate on the computer, now they are
not updating on the device.

3.Outlook 2007 sync problems with MS Activesync 4.5

I noticed that my sync of contacts to Motorola Q does not always sync contact
changes. When I change on the Motorola device it wipes out the Outllok
contact. I do have Outlook overriding my mobile device. It seems to work
fine with my work pc using Outlook 2003.

I have deleted partnerships, readded, defaulted my Motorola Q. Does anyone

4.Can't Sync PDA - Outlook 2007 & Activesync 4.5

My computer's OS is XP Prof. SP2. My PDA is an iPAQ H5555 with OS Microsoft
Windows for Pocket PC 2003 (Windows CE 4.2). I also have Outlook 2007 (part
of MS Office Professional Plus) and Norton 360 2.0.

When I attempt to sync my PDA, only "Favorites" and "Files" sync; the status
of "Calendar", "Contacts", "Tasks", "Inbox" & "Notes" remain as "Attention
required". When I try to resolve these items I am told to "disconnect &
reconnect" my device. After doing so, I am prompted to choose a profile name
in Outlook (one profile grabs my email from Verizon and the other grabs my
husband - I choose mine). After doing so, I receive the following messages;

"Synchronization cannot start because this desktop computer cannot access
necessary information. Restart this desktop computer and synchronize again.
If the problem persists and this desktop computer is running Microsoft
Outlook 2000, open Outlook 2000, click Help, and then Detect and Repair."

... after clicking OK, I receive the following message;

"Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the
network and access information. Restart your desktop computer and synchronize
again. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator."

... Restarting my computer does not stop these messages, it still will not
sync. -- I am not running Outlook 2000. (With Outlook open) Outlook 2007 does
not have "Detect & Repair"; it now has "Office Diagnostics". Diagnostics does
not find anything; it redirects me to a MS Office web page that references
"Setup Diagnostic - Missing Media". Having the Office Installation disk in
the CD drive does not help. -- Running the troubleshooter for Activesync
refers me to a link that references "IF Activesync cannot receive data
through port 990". It wants me to "allow usb connections". This was done when
I set up my PDA. -- I am not part of a network (such as the way a company
would be setup, I do not have a "server"). I do however have 3 computers, a
PDA, a print server, 5 Verizon Settop boxes and a Wii that all use the same
wireless router (if you want to call that a network). None of the computers
are setup to communicate directly with each other, other than my PDA and one
of my computers.

With ALL of this background information.... anyone's help would be GREATLY
appreciated!

THANKS!

Denise
