  • 1. Layering of frames?
Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Hi, hope someone can help? I'm using 2008 Powerpoint - and a relative newbie to MAC!! I wish to enter several frames onto a single slide, with the intention of revealing the individual layers, each after a mouse click or time delay. I'm struggling, because I don't yet understand the process, and am getting stuck when I add the frames, as I can't then seem to access the first frame in order to reposition it (I'm really trying to animate the whole sequence). I guess the three part question is: 1 Help - when I wish to set a frame (or group of frames) in front, or behind the original one(s), how is this achieved (what sequence of menu buttons do I need to access?) 2 Help in setting up the sequencing of the frames 'appearing' after the mouse click/time delay - how is this achieved? 3 Whether a macro would be useful to set up, as I wish to incorporate the ideas into several projects. I realise it's a lot to ask from a novice perspective, yet any help would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks in keen anticipation, David Wood Sheffield, UK
  • 2. PowerPoint hangs just after launch
Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I have had PowerPoint 2008 installed for about 3 months. I am running 12.1.4. In the last few weeks, PowerPoint has been getting through the splash screen, loading the menu bar items, and hanging. This happens 100% of the time. I have tried it all: repairing permissions, deleting preference files, deleting the font cache, restarting my Mac, clearing system caches, and so on. Nothing makes it launch. A hang report from OS X is below. Any ideas? Date/Time: 2008-12-03 09:52:48 -0500 OS Version: 10.5.5 (Build 9F33) Architecture: i386 Report Version: 4 Command: PowerPoint Path: /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Microsoft PowerPoint.app/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft PowerPoint Version: 12.1.3 (12.1.3) Build Version: 0 Project Name: (null) Source Version: 80930 Parent: launchd [91] PID: 1929 Event: hang Time: 6.64s Steps: 40
  • 3. Exporting movie with transitions
Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel I've opened a slideshow someone else has built in Powerpoint 07 on a PC and I need to export a movie with the transitions they've built into the slideshow. The show plays correctly when I preview it but when I save it as a movie none of the animations appear and all the transitions have changed to a default wipe. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

Coping charts from Excel 2008 and resizing them in PowerPoint 2008 on a Mac

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

To whom it may concern,

I have a problem with coping charts from excel to powerpoint. In the previous version I would copy the chart, ungroup it, resize, adjust font size and position the way I wanted it to be in the presentation. Now in 2008 it is impossible.

I tried coping it (cmd+c and then cmd+v). But I cannot resize the chart so that it fits on the slide. There is always sth going missing. My chart has a table as 'category axis label'. When I make the whole chart smaller, the graph gets so smal that almost invisible and the label stays the same. Or part of the label dissappeares. I tried to change the size of the font on the chart, but then size of every single letter gets changed (I want the title, the legend and the axis labels of different size).

I tried to save the graph as a picture (I tried with all available formats), but then the graph is blurry and the slide when projected is not readable to the audience

I tried 'pasting special' (all possibilities), but it doesn't make any change. The quality of the picture is crap. I tried pasting the graph through preview application but it doesn't help.

Is there anything else I can do apart from going back to the previous version of Office.

Regards

Agnieszka

Hi Agnieszka,
I am not seeing this issue reproduce with Office 2008 version 12.1.3. Are
you using the latest version? Also, are you copying/pasting from a .xlsx
file to a .pptx file (the newest file formats)? Do you have an example file
you can send me?

Thanks,
Eric

1.Install Office for Mac 2008 without Excel 2008

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Hello!

I currently use Office for Mac 2004, and because of my work, must continue to use Excel 2004 with its support for VBA.

I am interested in upgrading Word, PowerPoint and Entourage. Is it possible to install just Office for Mac 2008 WITHOUT installing Excel 2008?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Eden

2.transferring an excel file onto powerpoint 2008 on a mac

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I am a student putting together a group presentation. My fellow student has sent through data on excel (from a macbook bought last year). I am trying to put it into a 2008 powerpoint presentation but with no luck! If you could help it would be greatly appreciated.

4.Pivot chart dropdown multi selection from Excel PC 2007 does not show in Excel Mac 2008

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

My company is primarily PC based and many of the spreadsheets are created in Excel PC 2007. One very important monthly report has a drop down box as part of a Pivot chart where you can select departments. On the PC it shows as a list with boxes that can be selected or deselected and multiple selections work. On the Mac I only have the ability to put a single check with no boxes next to the department, without the ability to select multiples. Is this the expected performance or should it be more compatible across platforms?

5.Using Excel Mac 2004 along side Mac excel 2008

Although I am disappointed with Office 2008 for Mac because of the absent of
Analysis toolpack, I figured things out quite recently that I can still
install my Mac office 2004 and use the excel package that contains the
Analysis tool pack. How? ...... let me show you:

1. Insert your CD for Mac office 2004
2. When it open on your desk top, two options will be given to you to
download the software
     (a) Office set-up assistant, and (b) Microsoft office 2004.
3. CHOOSE MICROSOFT OFFICE 2004 (Drag the icon onto your desk top) and it
will start to run/download.
4. When done, this will appear as a file, so, you can keep it in your
DOCUMENTS folder and use it whenever you want.

It works OK and you can do all your analysis here and still use your 2008
version without any problem. I hope this works for you too!!
